Filmmusik-Komponist Peter Thomas<\/h6>\n

Einer der bekanntesten Filmmusik-Komponisten, Peter Thomas, ist tot. Der Sch\u00f6pfer zahlreicher Soundtracks f\u00fcr Film- und TV-Serien, Musicals, H\u00f6rspiele und Schlagertitel starb am vergangenen Sonntag im schweizerischen Lugano, wie sein Sohn Philip Thomas gegen\u00fcber der Deutschen Presse-Agentur best\u00e4tigte. Er wurde 94 Jahre alt.<\/p>\n

Peter Thomas wurde am 1. Dezember 1925 in Breslau geboren und wuchs in Berlin auf. Er kam sehr fr\u00fch mit Musik in Ber\u00fchrung und erhielt bereits als kleines Kind Klavierunterricht. Als Soldat geriet er im Zweiten Weltkrieg in Gefangenschaft und nahm ab 1949 sein Musikstudium wieder auf, welches er sich als Bar-Pianist in der Sektorenstadt finanzierte. Thomas erlangte 1953 einen Universit\u00e4tsabschluss in den F\u00e4chern Dirigieren, Tonsatz, Kontrapunkt und Blasmusik und arbeitete nach seinem Studium als Arrangeur unter anderem beim RIAS, bevor er ab 1958 verst\u00e4rkt Musik f\u00fcr das Fernsehen schrieb.<\/p>\n

Freigeist und Klangpionier<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Bekannt wurde Thomas in der Folge durch seine eigenwilligen und spannungsgeladenen Kompositionen. Er schrieb die Filmmusik f\u00fcr die popul\u00e4ren Edgar-Wallace- und Jerry-Cotton-Kinofilme sowie f\u00fcr die Science-Fiction-Fernsehserie \u201eRaumpatrouille Orion\u201c (1966). Thomas ist au\u00dferdem Urheber der bekannten Fanfare der Produktionsfirma Constantin-Film und schrieb die Musik f\u00fcr eine Reihe popul\u00e4rer Krimi-Serien, darunter \u201eDer Kommissar\u201c, \u201eDerrick\u201c und \u201eDer Alte\u201c.<\/p>\n

Dabei war Thomas stets auf der Suche nach au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Kl\u00e4ngen. So lie\u00df er sogar einen eigenen Synthesizer, das \u201eTho-Wi-Phon\u201c entwickeln<\/a>, das als elektronischer Klangerzeuger viele seiner Kompositionen veredelte.<\/p>\n

Peter Thomas hatte gro\u00dfen Einfluss auf die Pop-Welt und viele seiner Filmmusik-Kompositionen genie\u00dfen Kultstatus. Zahlreiche Musiker*innen arbeiteten mit Samples seiner Werke. Darunter die britische Band Pulp, in deren Song \u201eThis Is Hardcore“ (1998) ein Sample des Titels \u201eBolero On The Moon Rocks\u201c aus dem von Peter Thomas komponierten Soundtrack der Serie \u201eRaumpatrouille\u201c zu h\u00f6ren ist. Thomas wurde f\u00fcr seine Arbeiten vielfach ausgezeichnet. So erhielt er zuletzt im Jahr 2008 den SoundTrack Cologne Ehrenpreis und 2009 den 1. Deutschen Musikautorenpreis der GEMA<\/a> – beide f\u00fcr sein Lebenswerk.<\/p>\n
