Als h\u00e4tte Killer Mike es vorhersagen wollen (\u201eNow I understand that woke folk be playin\u2018\u201c), dekorieren sich Menschen und Medien jetzt mit diesem \u201ewoken\u201c Duo. Es ist eine komfortable Liegeposition, aus der man sich den Jubel-Arien anschlie\u00dft. Und es ist nicht einmal verkehrt. Das neue Album von Killer Mike und El-P alias Run The Jewels verdient jede Plattform. Doch die \u201eJagd auf Rassismus\u201c (SZ) zielt wieder mal weiter als nur \u201eSoundtrack zu Polizeigewalt\u201c (DLF) sein zu wollen. <\/p>\n<p>Killer Mike und El-P h\u00e4tten auf die Aktualit\u00e4t ihrer vierten Salve gerne verzichtet. Hinter vielen vordergr\u00fcndigen Highlights zimmern sie einen doppelten Boden, der das Album \u00fcber dem Kielwasser h\u00e4lt, das hohle Wortf\u00e4sser wie \u201eProtestsoundtrack\u201c (Spiegel) schnell untergehen l\u00e4sst. Wer nur Antirassismus f\u00fcr Trendbefriedigung in 280 Zeichen sucht, bekommt schon nach solchen Raps wie \u201eAnd you so numb you watch the cops choke out a man like me \/ Until my voice goes from a shriek to whisper, &#8218;I can&#8217;t breathe&#8217;\u201c entz\u00fcckte Schnappatmung. Doch Run The Jewels&#8216; Wutschnauben holt tiefer Luft, um sich eben nicht nur am offensichtlichen Missstand zu entladen, sondern an der Perversion einer Medialisierung von Rassismus: \u201eAnd you sit there in the house on couch and watch it on TV \/ The most you give&#8217;s a Twitter rant and call it a tragedy \/ But truly the travesty, you&#8217;ve been robbed of your empathy\u201d (aus dem Track \u201eWalking In The Snow\u201c). Damit macht das Duo das Dilemma deutlich, dass es nur eine Gruppe in diesem Konflikt gibt, die nach dem Konsum umschalten und sich mit dem n\u00e4chsten Programm am\u00fcsieren und zur\u00fccklehnen kann. <\/p>\n<h4><strong>Mehr als Kritik an Wei\u00dfer Vorherrschaft<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Schwer in Ordnung also, wenn El-P und Killer Mike ihre Kreativit\u00e4t den Texten widmen statt ihren Albumtiteln. Wozu auch? \u201eRTJ4\u201c sagt ohnehin genug. Wer die ersten drei Alben geh\u00f6rt hat, wei\u00df, worauf es zu freuen sich lohnt. F\u00fcr alle anderen k\u00f6nnte tats\u00e4chlich unerheblich sein, welche der Alben eins bis vier sie als erstes h\u00f6ren. Diejenigen, denen Politik herzlich egal ist, finden darauf einfach fetten Hau-drauf-HipHop zum Abrei\u00dfen. Auch das ist okay, haben Killer Mike und El-P das Album gerade auch deshalb gratis ver\u00f6ffentlicht, um allen eine Freude zu machen, die gerade eine gebrauchen k\u00f6nnen. Doch skaliert sich die Bewunderung f\u00fcr Nummer vier mit steigender Hingabe an das lyrische Produkt. Institutionalisierter Rassismus ist eines der Themen, wie auf \u201eJU$T\u201c: \u201eMastered economics &#8218;cause you took yourself from squalor (Slave) \/ Mastered academics &#8218;cause your grades say you a scholar (Slave) \/ Mastered Instagram &#8218;cause you can instigate a follow (Shit) \/ Look at all these slave masters posin&#8216; on yo&#8216; dollar (Get it, yeah)\u201c .<\/p>\n<p>Doch ist es eben genau diese Haltung auf \u201eRTJ4\u201c, die auch die Schwarze Community in die Pflicht nimmt und die Frage stellt, wer sich wessen Idealen unterordnet, die das Album zu so viel mehr macht als Kritik an Wei\u00dfer Vorherrschaft. Und weil er Chomsky und Bukowski gelesen hat, bewirbt sich Killer Mike auch nicht darum, das n\u00e4chste Gesicht einer Protestbewegung zu sein, wie er im Track \u201eA Few Words For The Firing Squad\u201d bekr\u00e4ftigt: \u201eFriends tell her, &#8218;He could be another Malcolm, he could be another Martin&#8216; \/ She told her partner, &#8218;I need a husband more than the world need another martyr&#8216;.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>El-P bleibt zwar technisch der schw\u00e4chere Rapper, hat es aber auch nicht n\u00f6tig, mit seinem Kollegen zu konkurrieren. El-P sorgt daf\u00fcr mit Wortspielen f\u00fcr gelegentliche Erleichterung, ohne dass er sich zum Clown macht: \u201eI&#8217;ll kill the mood, I&#8217;m a Buddhist MacGyver \/ I&#8217;ll slap a yapper [Slang f\u00fcr Mund, Anm. d. Red.] from the acne to the tooth bone fiber, I&#8217;m liver \/ &#8230; \/ And I&#8217;m a born and bred in USA who chop and screw truth up \/ Think I got a case of the Mondays, on fire.\u201c <\/p>\n<h4><strong>K\u00e4mpferisch, zynisch, wehm\u00fctig<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Vielmehr noch zeichnen zynische Zeilen wie \u201eSkyline ablaze in a Bob Ross pic\u201c (\u201eGoonies vs. E.T.\u201c), mit einem bitteren L\u00e4cheln den Wald voller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=a38-ogCFIRI\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201ehappy little accidents\u201c<\/a> auf Regenwaldpapier. El-P verkommt in dieser Konstellation auch deshalb nicht zum Adjutanten des am Mikrofon wie ein Anf\u00fchrer wirkenden Killer Mike, weil der ihm f\u00fcr dieses musikalische Knalltrauma in Form von Beats danken muss (und das auch tut). <\/p>\n<p>\u201eRTJ4\u201c kommt nicht im intellektuellen Bluenote-B\u00fcrgerrechtlergewand wie einst der Neo-Soul der Q-Tips und Questloves daher. Trotz seines kn\u00fcppelharten Klanggeh\u00e4uses ist es im Inneren nicht weniger belesen und kulturell pointiert. Referenzen auf Kurt Vonnegut und Ayn Rand (\u201eGot a Vonnegut punch for your Atlas shrugs\u201c) sind clevere Wendungen. Genau wie Anspielungen auf Memes wie den \u201eEpic Beard Man\u201c: \u201eI&#8217;ma come through and leave some damage \/ Goddamn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5q_5vIbsI3A\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">somebody call amber-lamp<\/a> \/ Or ambulances, it&#8217;s out of chances.\u201c <\/p>\n<p>Die selbsternannten \u201ePyrotechnokraten\u201c tapezieren wei\u00dfe (Safe-)H\u00e4user mit ihren \u201eGun-And-Fist\u201c-Emojis. Komfortzonen werden gest\u00fcrmt, wunde Punkte mit Salzl\u00f6sung herausge\u00e4tzt. Dank ihres satirischen Anstrichs ziehen Run The Jewels aber trotz aller realen Tragik nicht runter, sondern r\u00fctteln auf. Am musikalischen Backend tummeln sich diesmal ein paar mehr Melodien als sonst. Aber das muss gar nicht gro\u00df thematisiert werden. Run The Jewels ballern nach wie vor Krater in W\u00e4nde. \u201eRTJ4\u201c ist ein Rave auf Asphalt mit erhobener Faust.
