Die Gruppe h\u00f6rt auf den sch\u00f6nen, aber viel zu langen Namen Pylon Reenactment Society. Als \u201eReenactment\u201c bezeichnet man das Nachspielen historischer Ereignisse. Was hier \u201enachgestellt\u201c wird, ist im vorliegenden Fall eine Band, die im Jahr 1979 in Athens im US-Staat Georgia gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Eine Gruppe, die mit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/etwas-stimmt-nicht-dreckig-duesterer-disco-punk-von-dirty-ghosts-102469\/\">\u00e4hnlichen Mitteln<\/a> arbeitete wie Au Pairs oder Gang Of Four: irgendwie aus dem Punk geboren, laut, aber auch tanzbar und beinahe funky. Pylons Songs waren nicht schlechter als die der anderen beiden Bands; so richtig gro\u00df waren sie wohl aber nur in Athens. Was schon eine Menge bedeutet, denn als Pylon existierten, waren am selben Ort auch Gruppen wie The B-52&#8217;s oder R.E.M. aktiv. Der Schlagzeuger letzterer Band bezeichnete Pylon in den 80ern gar als die <a href=\"https:\/\/slate.com\/culture\/2020\/07\/pylon-band-athens-georgia-history-video-cool-town.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">beste Rockgruppe der USA<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Das Erbe von Pylon wird an verschiedener Stelle am Leben gehalten. So ist am vergangenen Freitag Pylons erweitertes Gesamtwerk als <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/hidden-tracks\/2020-11-04\/22\/tracce-magnetiche\/\">Boxset<\/a> herausgekommen. Und die Pylon-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.connectsavannah.com\/savannah\/pylon-reenactment-society-builds-on-a-stellar-legacy\/Content?oid=11844659\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">S\u00e4ngerin<\/a> selbst, Vanessa Briscoe Hay, hat 2014 ihre Pylon Reenactment Society gegr\u00fcndet. Das ist nicht, wie man vermuten k\u00f6nnte, eine Cover- beziehungsweise Zweitverwertungsband. Denn wenn das Quintett mit seinen eigenen Songs den Geist von Pylon heraufbeschw\u00f6rt, dann ist dieser Geist kein Gespenst der Vergangenheit. Sondern der Esprit, der Elan, der Pylon 1979 so besonders machte und heute Pylon Reenactment Society zu \u00e4hnlich guten Songs inspiriert.<\/p>\n<p>Der Song \u201eCompression\u201c von Pylon Reenactment Society ist heute unser Track des Tages.
