Es war das erste St\u00fcck, das Paul Simonon, der Bassist von The Clash, f\u00fcr die Band geschrieben hat. Der Song ist heute ein Klassiker, war 1979 allerdings nicht unter den Singles vom Album \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/flashback\/2018-09-19\/13\/september-1979-london-calling\/\">London Calling<\/a>\u201c. Erst Mitte 1990 erschien es in geremixter Form als Single. Vielleicht einfach, um noch ein St\u00fcck vom Kuchen abzubekommen. Denn zu Anfang desselben Jahres hatten Beats International einen gro\u00dfen Hit mit \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Pm6ufpOrtTk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dub Be Good To Me<\/a>\u201c gelandet, dessen Fundament ein Bass-Sample aus dem The-Clash-Song ist.<\/p>\n<p>Unser Track des Tages schilderte die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/was-ist-musik\/2020-06-15\/21\/geschichte-wird-gemacht-meanwhile-in-britain\/\">Spannungen<\/a> gegen Ende der der 1970er-Jahre im Londoner Arbeiter*innen-Viertel Brixton. Der Stadtteil mit einer gro\u00dfen afro-karibischen Community litt unter der Rezession und schlechten Wohnbedingungen, unter Kriminalit\u00e4t und Polizeigewalt. Ein Zeitzeugnis und ein Song des Widerstands \u2013 keine zwei Jahre, bevor es in Brixton tats\u00e4chlich zum <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/newsround\/50035769\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aufstand<\/a> kam.
