Als er 1999 als Drummer der HipHop-Band The Roots mit \u201eYou Got Me\u201c (feat. Erykah Badu) einen ziemlich gro\u00dfen Hit landete, hatte er bereits ein paar radikale musikalische Wendungen hinter sich. Denn als Ahmir Thompson alias Questlove 1993 bei The Roots einstieg, war er zwar schon ein exzellenter Musiker, aber sein Trommeln bereitete vielen DJs-Schwierigkeiten. Dass die Band einen menschlichen Schlagzeuger statt eines Drumcomputers einsetzte, stellte die DJs n\u00e4mlich vor das Problem, dass sie die The-Roots-St\u00fccke nur schwer mit anderen Rap-Tracks\u00a0ineinander mischen konnten. Und wenn HipHop-DJs eine Platte nicht spielten, half das der Karriere nicht unbedingt. Questlove beschloss, selbst zur Maschine zu werden: Er \u00fcbte, bis sein Timing so perfekt war, dass man ihn nicht mehr von einer Drum-Machine unterscheinen konnte.<\/p>\n<p>Zumindest f\u00fcr eine Weile \u2013 denn im Jahr 2000 spielte Questlove auf D&#8217;Angelos wegweisendem Neo-Soul-Album \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.br.de\/radio\/bayern2\/sendungen\/zuendfunk\/wie-dangelo-mit-voodoo-eine-ganze-generation-von-musikerinnen-gepraegt-hat-100.html\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Voodoo<\/a>\u201c wieder ganz anders. Denn D&#8217;Angelos Vision beinhaltete eine neue Art von Groove, f\u00fcr die Ahmir Thompson schon wieder umlernen musste, um pr\u00e4zise nicht auf, sondern hinter dem Beat zu spielen. Auf unserem heutigen Track des Tages h\u00f6ren wir wiederum eine ganz andere Seite von Questlove. Gegen Ende des St\u00fccks spielt er einen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/was-ist-musik\/2020-08-31\/20\/jungle-reloaded-zum-zweiten\/\">Jungle<\/a>-Beat. Eine Hommage an die Drum-&amp;-Bass-Szene, die gerade auf ihrem H\u00f6hepunkt war, als The Roots Mitte der Neunziger in der britischen Hauptstadt wohnten.<\/p>\n<p>Der US-amerikanische HipHop- und R&amp;B-Schlagzeuger Questlove wurde am 20.
