Unser heutiger Track des Tages \u201eHazey Jane II\u201c ist heute vor genau 50 Jahren auf Nick Drakes Album \u201eBryter Layter\u201c erschienen. \u201eBryter Layter\u201c war das zweite von insgesamt drei Alben des Folk-S\u00e4ngers aus Tanworth-in-Arden<\/a>. Und eigentlich h\u00e4tte es sein gro\u00dfer Wurf werden sollen. Und m\u00fcssen, denn heute gelten alle drei Longplayer als Meisterwerke. Doch der Ruhm kam f\u00fcr Nick Drake erst nach seinem Tod. Der Radio-DJ John Peel hatte Drakes Einzigartigkeit schon 1969 erkannt. Damals erschien \u201eFive Leaves Left<\/a>\u201c, Drakes sparsames Deb\u00fct. Peel war 1969 leider nur einer von wenigen Fans. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter kam dann das nahezu \u00fcppig instrumentierte und liebevoll arrangierte \u201eBryter Layter\u201c heraus. Mit einer vollen Bandbesetzung, Bl\u00e4sern und Streichern. Doch trotz all der Instrumente klangen die Lieder so sanft, zur\u00fcckgenommen und sch\u00f6n wie schon auf dem Deb\u00fct. Eine Meisterleistung des musikalischen Understatements.<\/p>\n

Ein St\u00fcck sticht heraus aus \u201eBryter Layter\u201c: \u201eHazey Jane II\u201c ist ein ungewohnt schneller, unwirklicher Popsong. Man k\u00f6nnte fast meinen, Nick Drake h\u00e4tte mit dem St\u00fcck einen Gro\u00dfteil der Musik von Belle & Sebastian vorweggenommen. Doch auch so unterschiedliche Acts wie Kate Bush und The Cure nennen heute Drake als wichtigen Einfluss. Aber damals floppte auch dieses gro\u00dfartige Album kommerziell. 1972 ver\u00f6ffentlichte Nick Drake noch seinen dritten, im Alleingang aufgenommenen Longplayer \u201ePink Moon\u201c. Seine Depressionen waren zu dem Zeitpunkt schon so schlimm, dass er kaum noch mit jemandem sprach. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter starb Nick Drake an einer \u00dcberdosis Antidepressiva.<\/p>\n
