Hinter diesem afrofuturistischen Projekt stecken der angolanische Rapper und Aktivist Ikonoklasta und der Produzent Pedro Coquen\u00e3o, der ebenfalls in Angola geboren wurde, aber in Lissabon aufgewachsen ist. Daher also der Bandname: \u201eIko\u201c+\u201eCoqwe\u201c. Das Duo inszeniert seine Kunst als dystopisch, aber nicht resigniert. Ihre Tracks handeln unter anderem vom (Neo-)Kolonialismus \u2013 bis in die 70er-Jahre war Angola eine Kolonie von Portugal. Dort gibt es heute besonders in Lissabon eine gro\u00dfe angolanische Community. Ikoqwes Album handelt auch von der besonders mit Kolonialismus einhergehenden Geschichtsklitterung, von Medien im Allgemeinen und von Utopien. Dabei inszenieren sich Ikoqwe als Au\u00dferirdische aus einer anderen Zeit, die sich pl\u00f6tzlich mit unserer Gegenwart konfrontiert sehen.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl die Musik anders klingt und die visuelle \u00c4sthetik eine andere ist, kann man eine Verwandtschaft zu dem <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/was-ist-musik\/2011-03-13\/20\/von-der-kfz-technik-zum-techno-kontinuitaet-und-br\/\">Detroiter Kollektiv<\/a> Underground Resistance erkennen. Wie sie machen Ikoqwe innovative elektronische Tanzmusik, die von der Geschichte der Unterdr\u00fcckung von Afrikaner*innen und ihren Nachkommen besch\u00e4ftigt. Und illustrieren politische Themen in einer Alien-Comic-\u00c4sthetik. W\u00e4hrend die Detroiter \u00fcberwiegend instrumentalen Techno und Elektro machen, klingen Ikoqwe aber nach aktuellen Sounds aus Angola und Portugal. In Lissabon ist eine Musikszene entstanden, deren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/bttb-back-to-the-basics\/2015-03-26\/21\/schraeg\/\">Produktionen<\/a> stark von angolanischen Genres wie Kuduro oder Tarraxinha gepr\u00e4gt sind. Diese afro-portugiesische Musik nennt sich so, wie Pedro Coquen\u00e3o als DJ und Solo-Produzent hei\u00dft: Batida. <\/p>\n<p>Der Verbindung von <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/afroheat\/2020-11-10\/18\/von-luanda-nach-lissabon\/\">Angola und Portugal<\/a> hat sich auch unser Moderator Klaus Frederking in seiner Sendung AfroHeat gewidmet.
