Der Brasilianer ist seit fast einem Vierteljahrhundert im Musikbusiness aktiv. In seiner Heimat ist er ein gefeierter Indie-Musiker, ob mit seiner Rockband Los Hermanos, als Mitglied des Big-Band-Projekts Orquestra Imperial oder als Solok\u00fcnstler. Sp\u00e4testens als Teil der Supergroup Little Joy, gegr\u00fcndet mit The-Strokes-Drummer Fab Moretti und der brasilianischen K\u00fcnstlerin Binki Shapiro, konnte er auch die US-amerikanische Indie-Blogosph\u00e4re erreichen. Zus\u00e4tzlich ist er vielbesch\u00e4ftigter Gast-Mucker, der bereits mit einer illustren Runde an K\u00fcnstler*innen zusammengearbeitet hat, von Devendra Banhart \u00fcber Nation Of Language bis hin zu Kesha. <\/p>\n<p>Hierzulande kennt man Amarante jedoch gr\u00f6\u00dftenteils nur wegen eines einmin\u00fctigen Sound-Schnipsels: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=PtJ6yAGjsIs\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201eTuyo<\/a>\u201c, dem Titelsong der Erfolgsserie \u201eNarcos\u201c. Im Zeitalter des \u201eSkip-Intro\u201c-Buttons (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.avclub.com\/skip-intro-netflix-could-ve-saved-tv-title-sequences-1802926420\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">popularisiert von den \u201eNarcos\u201c-Produzenten Netflix<\/a>) h\u00e4lt sich Amarantes Popularit\u00e4t im deutschsprachigen Raum dementsprechend in Grenzen. Ein Umstand, der sich mit der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung seines zweiten Soloalbums vielleicht \u00e4ndern k\u00f6nnte. Oder zumindest sollte. <\/p>\n<h4><strong>Psych-Pop-Soundtrack f\u00fcr den Sommer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Der Titeltrack er\u00f6ffnet das Album mit warmen Streicherkl\u00e4ngen, entgegen dem Albumtitel mehr melancholisch als melodramatisch. Diese W\u00e4rme zieht sich von vorne bis hinten durch \u201eDrama\u201c: Die Single <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/mare-rodrigo-amarante-111849\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201eMare<\/a>\u201c ist eine moderne Variation auf Tropic\u00e1lia, eine Pop-Spielart aus den brasilianischen 60er- und 70er-Jahren \u2013 mit einer gef\u00fchlten Temperatur von angenehmen 26 Grad Celsius. Der Tropic\u00e1lia-Verweis ist kein Wunder \u2013 schlie\u00dflich arbeitete Amarante bereits in der Vergangenheit mit Genre-Vater Gilberto Gil zusammen. Der folgende \u201eTango\u201c hat nicht viel mit dem titelgebenden Tanz zu tun. Stattdessen handelt es sich um verspielten Psychedelic-Pop, mit gem\u00fctlich pl\u00e4tschernden E-Gitarren und verhallten Bl\u00e4ser-Fanfaren. <\/p>\n<p>Auch im weiteren Verlauf von \u201eDrama\u201c wird elegant zwischen Psychedelia und brasilianischer Popkultur (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/bossa-brasil\/\">M\u00fasica Popular Brasileira<\/a>) balanciert. Amarante spielt verstrahlte Bossa Nova und Samba f\u00fcr den Salzwasser-Tank. Die Polyrhythmik, die jeden dieser Songs auszeichnet, sorgt f\u00fcr eine allgemeine Spannung, die Amarante mit lieblichen Melodien und dem Trommelfell schmeichelnden Gesang aufl\u00f6st. Die W\u00f6rter m\u00f6gen auf Portugiesisch sein, doch die musikalische Sprache ist universell. \u201eDrama\u201c ist ein meisterhaftes, psychedelisches Pop-Album, das in einer gerechten Welt diesen Sommer in jedem Wohnzimmer aufgelegt werden sollte. <\/p>\n<p>Ver\u00f6ffentlichung: 16.
