Es gibt Bands und Acts, die brauchen f\u00fcr eine Neuerfindung ein ganzes Jahrzehnt. Bands, die gef\u00fchlte Ewigkeiten an Stagnation ben\u00f6tigen, um ihre Komfortzone zu verlassen. Selbst erfahrene Neuerfinder wie Radiohead brauchten vier Jahre, um von \u201eOK Computer<\/a>\u201c zu \u201eKid A<\/a>\u201c zu kommen. Es braucht nun einmal Zeit und Energie, um das Gelernte zu verlernen.<\/p>\n

Und dann gibt es Camae Ayewa. Die K\u00fcnstlerin und Poetin aus dem US-Bundesstaat Maryland scheint das Thema \u201eKomfortzone\u201c komplett abzulehnen. Das merkt man zuerst an ihrer unruhigen, oftmals bewusst unangenehmen Musik. Doch vor allem zeigt sich das an der schwindelerregenden Bandbreite, die Ayewa unter ihrem K\u00fcnstlerinnennamen Moor Mother abdeckt. Allein ihre Releases im Jahr 2020 sprechen B\u00e4nde. Im Zeitraum eines einzigen Jahren ver\u00f6ffentlichte sie: ein Album<\/a> als Teil des Free-Jazz-Kollektivs Irreversible Entanglements. Eine Handgranaten-artige Noise-Punk-LP<\/a> mit ihrem Duo Moor Jewelry. Eine abstrakte Underground-HipHop-Platte<\/a> mit dem Rapper Billy Woods. Ein Soloalbum, basierend auf einer selbstgeschriebenen und -performten Stage-Revue<\/a>. Eine Live-Noise-Kooperation<\/a> mit der Avantgarde-Jazz-Komponistin Nicole Mitchell. In diesem Jahr setzt sich dieser Trend fort: Ayewa arbeitete in den vergangenen Monaten bereits mit so unterschiedlichen Acts wie Sons Of Kemet und The Bug zusammen. Moor Mother produziert, rappt, singt, schreit und schrammelt. Und ihr Geist ist immer in Bewegung. <\/p>\n

All diese extrem unterschiedlichen Projekte waren Kooperationen. Doch wie sieht ein Soloalbum von solch einer abenteuerlichen K\u00fcnstlerin aus? Ihre neue vierte Solo-LP zeigt, dass diese Frage nicht so leicht zu beantworten ist. \u201eBlack Encyclopedia Of The Air\u201c ist das Werk einer Musikerin, die nicht nur in keine Schublade passt \u2013 die das Konzept \u201eSchublade\u201c seit dem Beginn ihrer Karriere transzendiert.<\/p>\n

Jenseits aller Komfortzonen<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Wie beschreibt man so ein Album? Vielleicht so, wie der Autor Mark Z. Danielewski die unendlichen Korridore des titelgebenden Hauses seines Romans \u201eHouse Of Leaves\u201c beschreibt. N\u00e4mlich mit einer Auflistung von all den Sachen, die es nicht ist, oder nicht hat. Im Falle von Danielewskis \u201eHaus\u201c sind das: keine Toilette, kein Holz, keine Fenster, keine Lampen, keine Steckdosen, etc. Moor Mother rappt auf \u201eBlack Encyclopedia Of The Air\u201c, genau wie Feature-G\u00e4ste wie zum Beispiel Elucid oder Pink Siifu, aber dennoch ist es kein HipHop-Album. Ayewa spricht ihre Zeilen mit der Gravitas einer apokalyptischen Poetin, mit mehr Fokus auf den Worten als auf dem Flow. Der Begriff \u201eSpoken-Word\u201c passt aber ebenfalls nicht, daf\u00fcr ist zu viel Musikalit\u00e4t in ihrer Stimme. Die Akkorde und Fl\u00f6ten muten wie Jazz an, doch es handelt sich auch nicht um ein Jazz-Album. Die Drones, St\u00f6rger\u00e4usche und Klacker-Sounds erinnern an abstrakte Noise-Musik, an Musique concr\u00e8te, doch daf\u00fcr ist die LP nicht verkopft genug. <\/p>\n

Was bleibt \u00fcbrig? Vielleicht sollte man weniger beschreiben, was diese Musik ausmacht, sondern eher, was diese Musik macht. Sie w\u00fchlt auf, wie im S\u00e4gezahn-Synthesizer-Albtraum \u201eZami\u201c, der die Autobiografie der afroamerikanischen Feministin Audre Lorde zitiert. Sie beruhigt, wie in den erstaunlich angenehmen Instrumentals von \u201eMangrove\u201c oder \u201eIso Fonk\u201c. Und sie inspiriert, durch Ayewas fantastische Texte. Die Worte dieser Poetin sind gleicherma\u00dfen spirituell und politisch \u2013 in wenigen S\u00e4tzen kreiert sie ganze Universen. \u201eGather in a circle, my purpose \/ My collective work \/ My responsibility to the earth, to the hurt\u201c, hei\u00dft es in \u201eShekere\u201c. Was ist \u201eBlack Encyclopedia Of The Air\u201c? Ein Album, das nur Moor Mother erschaffen konnte, jenseits aller Komfortzonen.<\/p>\n
