Geburtstag des Labels Flying Nun Records.\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>The Clean aus Dunedin waren eine der ersten Bands, die auf Flying Nun Records ver\u00f6ffentlichten<\/h6>\n<p>Mit \u201eTally Ho\u201c bescherten The Clean ihrem Label Flying Nun Records seinen ersten Hit. Das hymnische Lo-Fi-Pop-St\u00fcck war erst die zweite Single auf dem kleinen Label, das der Plattenladenbetreiber Roger Shepherd im September 1981 gr\u00fcndete. Shepherd war in Christchurch ans\u00e4ssig, aber viele der Bands, f\u00fcr die sein Label bekannt werden sollte, stammten aus der Stadt Dunedin. So auch The Clean. In der Universit\u00e4tsstadt war damals nicht viel los, was ein fruchtbarer Boden f\u00fcr Bands sein kann. In Neuseeland zu wohnen, bedeutete Anfang der 80er eine gewisse H\u00fcrde, wenn man eine coole junge Band sein wollte. Die wei\u00df, was in den USA und in Gro\u00dfbritannien zur Stunde abgeht. Denn in der Zeit vor dem Internet war es schwierig, an Underground-News heranzukommen. Zeitschriften und Fanzines erreichten Neuseeland per Schiff, Monate nach Erscheinen. Das k\u00f6nnte eine Rolle daf\u00fcr spielen, dass sich ein eigener \u201eDunedin-Sound\u201c herausbildete.<\/p>\n<p>Zu diesen Bands geh\u00f6rten The Chills, The Bats, The Verlaines, Sneaky Feelings, Tall Dwarfs und eben auch The Clean. Die Musiker*innen teilten eine Liebe f\u00fcr den Lo-Fi-DIY-Ansatz der Punk-Bewegung. Aber gleichzeitig standen sie auf Melodien, auf jangly Gitarren wie im US-Westcoast-Pop der 60er. Und das war genau das, was Roger Shepherd 1981 kickte. Mit seinem Label schuf er eine Infrastruktur f\u00fcr die genannten Bands und weitere Acts. Wodurch in Neuseeland eine ziemlich spannende eigenst\u00e4ndige Underground-Szene entstehen konnte. \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/schliemanns-soundbox\/2021-09-05\/17\/hellzapoppin-40-jahre-flying-nun\/\">40 Jahre Flying Nun<\/a>\u201c war auch Anfang des Monats Thema auf ByteFM in der Sendung Schliemanns Soundbox mit Gregor Kessler.
