Zumindest, wenn man den Track-Credits glauben darf: Glenn Gould und U.S. Girls sind dort als Interpret*innen aufgef\u00fchrt. Nat\u00fcrlich sind die beiden K\u00fcnstler*innen aus dem kanadischen Toronto einander nie begegnet. Denn der Pianist starb im Jahr 1982, drei Jahre vor der Geburt von Meghan Remy alias U.S. Girls. Gould hatte mithin kein Mitspracherecht hinsichtlich der Compilation, auf der dieser Song zu h\u00f6ren ist. \u201eUninvited Guests\u201c hei\u00dft dieser Sampler, auf dem sich junge K\u00fcnstler*innen dem Verm\u00e4chtnis des mythenumrankten Klassik-Pianisten annehmen. Die Mythen umranken Gould zum einen, weil er einerseits ziemlich exzentrisch auftrat. Selbst wenn es warm war, trug er Handschuhe und Mantel und legte diesen bisweilen selbst zum Musizieren nicht ab. Am Klavier sa\u00df er auf einem Mini-Schemel, das Gesicht nahe an den Tasten.<\/p>\n<p>Aber nat\u00fcrlich ranken die Mythen nur, weil Glenn Gould bei aller Exzentrik als bester Klassik-Pianist seiner Zeit galt. Die kanadischen Musikproduzenten Billy Iannaci und Andrew Testa waren erstaunt, dass niemand versucht hatte, Goulds Musik neu zu interpretieren. Der Pianist selbst popularisierte die Musik seit Jahrhunderten toter Komponisten im 20. Jahrhundert und benutzte noch vor den Beatles das Studio als Instrument. Iannaci und Testa wollten im Jahr 2020 mit \u201eUninvited Guests\u201c Goulds Musik modernisieren. Haupts\u00e4chlich arbeiteten sie daf\u00fcr mit HipHop-K\u00fcnstler*innen. Heraus kamen dabei stabile Tunes mit Gould-Samples, wobei Glenn Goulds musikalischer Charakter vielleicht etwas untergeht. Nun gibt es eine Deluxe-Edition mit zus\u00e4tzlichen Instrumentaltracks und einem neuen Opener von U.S. Girls. Der klingt vor allem nach Meghan Remys leicht d\u00fcsterer Art von Popmusik. Auch wenn Goulds Klavierspiel hier keine tragende S\u00e4ule ist, hat es einen sch\u00f6nen Song inspiriert.<\/p>\n<p>Die Deluxe-Edition der Compilation \u201eUninvited Guests\u201c ist auf dem Label Sony Masterworks erschienen.
