In ihren Anfangstagen klang die heute aus Benjamin Schr\u00f6ter, Max Nosek und Paul Schwarz bestehende Post-Punk-Band Karies noch recht typisch nach dem, was man sich unter schn\u00f6rkellosem Post-Punk so vorstellt. Bereits ihr letztes Album \u201eAlice (2018) war allerdings Ausdruck des Bestrebens, nicht immer nur die gleichen Wege zu gehen. Da ist es nur konsequent, dass sich die Formation aus Stuttgart auf der Suche nach Neuem deutlich inzwischen deutlich sp\u00fcrbar in Richtung Klangsynthese ge\u00f6ffnet hat.<\/p>\n

Traum und Landschaft<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Ihre j\u00fcngste Single \u201eComing Of Age<\/a>\u201c, Vorbote der vierten LP, zeigte das deutlich. Ihr neuester Streich ebenfalls: Im Song \u201eLaguna Seca\u201c verlagert sich der Sound der Post-Punk-Band fast vollst\u00e4ndig hin zu vertr\u00e4umt-leichtf\u00fc\u00dfigem Synth-Pop. Eine Richtung, die hier stark an das eine oder andere Werk von Jens Friebe oder auch Hans Platzgumers 1997er Sound-Expedition \u201eAura Anthropica\u201c erinnert. Mit letzterer teilt sich das St\u00fcck nicht nur den Vibe, sondern auch die Landschaft als gemeinsamen thematischen Nenner. Diese ist hier allerdings ein ertr\u00e4umtes Niemandsland, was als Chiffre f\u00fcr einen Ort ohne identiti\u00e4ren Ballast zu verstehen ist, wie es in einer Mitteilung dazu hei\u00dft. Karies lassen in dem St\u00fcck denn auch einige Konventionen typischer Pop-Arrangements weitgehend au\u00dfer Acht. Schlie\u00dflich geht in einer reich bebilderten Traumlanschaft nicht jeder Weg geradeaus \u2013 und \u00fcberhaupt, was hat im Traum schon klare Konturen?<\/p>\n

Produziert wurde das Ganze von Karies-Mitglied Paul Schwarz, der auch bei Human Abfall Schlagzeug spielt, und Thomas Zehnle, welcher auch schon f\u00fcr Levin Goes Lightly, Wolf Mountains und All diese Gewalt an den Reglern gesessen hat. \u201eLaguna Seca\u201c ist die dritte Singleauskopplung des kommenden vierten Albums \u201eTagtr\u00e4ume an der Schaummaschine I\u201c, das am 10. M\u00e4rz 2023 via This Charming Man Records erscheinen wird.<\/p>\n
