Irgendwie kommt das haupts\u00e4chlich britische Quartett aus Glasgow, aber auch nicht so richtig. So sind Gemma Fleet und Andrew Milk aus London zugezogen, wo sie unter anderem Bass bei The Wharves (Fleet) und Schlagzeug bei Shopping (Milk) gespielt haben. Der Gitarrist Sebastian Ymai indessen kommt eigentlich aus Chile und hat Schottland mittlerweile zugunsten von Berlin verlassen. Doch das Zentrum der Band liegt in Glasgow, der Heimat von S\u00e4ngerin Joan Sweeney, vormals bei The Royal We. Seit 2020 spielt die Gruppe in der aktuellen Besetzung zusammen, die auf \u201eNo Fuss\u201c ihren Tontr\u00e4ger-Einstand gibt. Zwar liegen ihre \u00e4sthetischen Wurzeln in der Umbruchszeit zwischen den 70ern und 80ern, doch ihre Themen sind keine Retro-Liebhabereien, sondern jetztbezogene Herzensangelegenheiten.<\/p>\n<p>Am st\u00e4rksten pr\u00e4gt die Atmosph\u00e4re unseres Tracks des Tages das Zusammenspiel zwischen Gitarre und Gesang, das in seiner souver\u00e4nen Beklommenheit Siouxsie And The Banshees heraufbeschw\u00f6rt. Dennoch driftet das St\u00fcck nicht in Goth-Gefilde \u2013 dank eines Groove-Fundaments, das eher an Au Pairs oder Gang Of Four erinnert. Es ist ein St\u00fcck \u00fcber die Fragmentiertheit der Linken, an der sich Sweeney st\u00f6rt. Dabei bietet ihr die Band eine Plattform f\u00fcr Widerspr\u00fcche: \u201eBei Current Affairs kann ich in einem Moment die Welt in Schutt und Asche legen und im anderen wieder f\u00fcr eine bessere Welt eintreten.\u201c Damit m\u00f6chte sie demonstrieren, \u201edass es einen Platz f\u00fcr alle Gef\u00fchle und Pers\u00f6nlichkeiten gibt und dass wir negative Gedanken ehrlich aussprechen sollten und ihnen mit Mitgef\u00fchl eine Bedeutung beimessen. Es ist nicht immer schlecht, zu w\u00fcten, zu weinen oder grundlos optimistisch zu sein.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Das Album \u201eOff The Tongue\u201c von Current Affairs erscheint am 14.
