Im Jahr 2020 ver\u00f6ffentlichte das Duo aus Lagos sein erstes Album \u201eRoots\u201c. Schon darauf zeigten sich Kingsley Chukwudi Okorie und sein Bruder Benjamin Chukwudi James stilistisch eklektisch. Vor allem nahmen die Songs ihrer ersten LP Bezug auf Stile wie Highlife und Afrobeat, aber sie bedienten sich auch bei Genres wie Funk und Jazz. Das Duo beschreibt sich selbst als \u201eafrozentrisch beeinflusst\u201c und auch die Produktion ihres Deb\u00fctalbums entsprach oft der \u00c4sthetik \u00e4lterer Highlife-Scheiben aus Nigeria oder Ghana. Ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter allerdings schienen The Cavemen einen Sound gefunden zu haben, der nun so richtig ihr eigener war.<\/p>\n<p>Auf ihrer zweiten LP versetzten die Gebr\u00fcder Okorie ihr 70er\/80er-Afropop-Fundament in die Gegenwart. Zwar blieben sie dem warmen Sound einer analogen Bandbesetzung treu, doch die Produktion stand nun mit beiden Beinen in der Gegenwart. Innerhalb der von Drum-Machines dominierten Afropop-Szene fallen The Cavemen gerade durch ihre Sanftheit und unvorhersehbare, manchmal nach Jams klingende Songstrukturen auf. Leider folgte auf diese leisetreterische Gro\u00dftat namens \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/tracks-des-tages\/stranger-von-the-cavemen-117798\/\">Love And Highlife<\/a>\u201c bislang keine weitere LP. Doch immer wieder einmal meldet sich das Br\u00fcderpaar mit einer neuen Single. Sozusagen einem Statusbericht, wohin sie ihre musikalische Reise gerade gef\u00fchrt hat. So streckten sie etwa 2022 ihre F\u00fchler auf der Single \u201eAdaugo\u201c in Richtung Afrobeats aus, auf anderen Songs wiederum in traditionellere Gefilde der westafrikanischen Palm-Wine Music.
