Gr\u00f6\u00dftm\u00f6gliche Freiheit war schon immer die treibende Kraft im Schaffen des Songwriters Beck Hansen. Er mixt Musikstile wie Folk, Blues, Funk, Metal und HipHop zu seinem eigenen, meist psychedelischen Genre. Umso mehr verwunderte es, als der freiheitssuchende K\u00fcnstler 2005 seine Mitgliedschaft bei der Sekte Scientology bekannt gab.<\/p>\n<p>Der Song \u201eLoser\u201c vom Album &#8222;Mellow Gold&#8220; von 1994 verhilft Beck zu internationalem Erfolg. Mit den Songzeilen \u201eI&#8217;m a loser baby, so why don&#8217;t you kill me?\u201d wird der Song zur Erkennungsmelodie der sogenannten \u201eSlacker-Bewegung\u201c. Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde der Begriff \u201eSlacker\u201c in den USA f\u00fcr Personen benutzt, die sich dem Wehrdienst entziehen wollten. Sp\u00e4ter wurde der er dann mit der Generation X und der Grungebewegung in Verbindung gebracht. Beck Selbst war davon weniger begeistert und f\u00fchlte sich dieser Bewegung nie zugeh\u00f6rig.<br \/>\nMit Seinem n\u00e4chsten Album \u201eOdelay\u201c und dessen erstem Song \u201eDevil\u2019s Haircut\u201c etabliert sich Beck als musikalische Gr\u00f6\u00dfe.<\/p>\n<p>Einige Alben und Grammys sp\u00e4ter scheint Beck gar nicht mehr aus dem Studio herauszukommen. Er produziert und schreibt alle Songs auf dem neuesten Album von Charlotte Gainsbourg, produziert Songs f\u00fcr diverse Film-Soundttracks und covert non stop ganze Alben in seinem Projekt \u201eRecord Club\u201c. Mit diesem gr\u00fcndet Beck 2009 ein Projekt in dem er mit meistens prominenten Gastmusikern in einem einzigen Tag, ohne vorher zu Proben, ein ganzes Album einspielt. In den elf Folgetagen werden dann die Songs mit Video auf seine Webseite geladen.
