Mittlerweile ist es ganze 17 Jahre her, dass die US-amerikanische S\u00e4ngerin und Gitarristin aus Washington, D.C. eine Solo-LP ver\u00f6ffentlicht hat. Stillgestanden hat die Musikerin aber eigentlich nie wirklich, seit sie 1990 mit ihrer Math-Rock-Band Autoclave die Bildfl\u00e4che betrat. Es war die Zeit, als die Riot-Grrrl-Bewegung entstand, Grunge noch kein Mainstream-Begriff war und sich besonders in den USA eine junge, l\u00e4rmende, politisch progressive Alternative-Rock-Generation austobte. W\u00e4hrend sich eine ger\u00e4uschvolle, rotzige Klang\u00e4sthetik oft auch daraus speist, dass das politische Anliegen ausgepr\u00e4gter ist als das musikalische K\u00f6nnen, ist Timony jedoch \u00dcberzeugungst\u00e4terin. Schon an der Highschool spielte sie Gitarre in der Jazz-Band und studierte nebenbei Viola. Laut ihrem Gitarrenlehrer war sie ein Wunderkind mit einer intuitiven Gabe, die man niemandem durch Lehrstunden beibringen k\u00f6nnte.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl Mary Timony ihr K\u00f6nnen nie selbstdarstellerisch in den Mittelpunkt r\u00fcckt, wurde sie mit Bands wie Helium, Ex Hex oder Wild Flag zu einer der einflussreichsten Underground-Rock-Gitarristinnen. Das Songwriting zum neuen Album \u00fcberschatteten und pr\u00e4gten eine endende Beziehung und der Tod von Timonys Eltern. \u201eDas war das Schwerste, was ich je durchgemacht habe\u201c, erinnert sie sich. \u201eJede Woche musste ich eine neue Krise bew\u00e4ltigen.\u201c In diesem tiefen Tal geriet ihr das Songwriting zum \u201eAnker\u201c in einer Zeit schwerer Verluste. War die erste Single \u201eDominoes\u201c ein eher typischer Timony-Song, klingt der neue beinahe nach Country-Rock. F\u00fcr dieses St\u00fcck habe sie sich \u201edie Einsamkeit als einen Besucher vorgestellt, der regelm\u00e4\u00dfig an Deine T\u00fcr klopft\u201c, sagt Timony. \u201eIch dachte, es w\u00e4re witzig zu sagen, dass die Einsamkeit die Einzige ist, die immer wieder zur\u00fcckkommt.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Das Album \u201eUntame The Tiger\u201c von Mary Timony erscheint am 23.
