Umgesetzt mit funktionalem Minimalismus und von der erhabenen Sch\u00f6nheit eines perfekten Ganzen, an dem nichts zu viel ist. Palladino hat ihr Deb\u00fct nicht alleine geschrieben, sondern auch produziert. Zwar hat sie nicht alles allein aus dem Boden gestampft, aber es ist so etwas wie eine erweiterte Familienangelegenheit. Da diese erweiterte Familie in den h\u00f6chsten Musik-Ligen spielt, ver\u00f6ffentlicht Fabiana Palladino konsequenterweise nichts, das nicht etwas ganz Besonderes ist. W\u00e4hrend ihr Bruder Rocco und ihr Vater Pino Palladino als Bassisten ihr Geld verdienen (die Studiolegende Pino spielte unter anderem f\u00fcr Paul Young und D&#8217;Angelo), steht Fabiana als S\u00e4ngerin und Songwriterin im Zentrum ihres Outputs.<\/p>\n<p>Vom Vater lernte sie, wie man am besten die eigenen Fertigkeiten in die Dienste anderer stellt. Sie spielte unter anderem Klavier f\u00fcr The Maccabees oder sang f\u00fcr Jessie Ware. \u201eIch mag es, die Visionen anderer zu verwirklichen, solide und zuverl\u00e4ssig zu sein\u201c, sagt Palladino. Aber \u201eK\u00fcnstlerin zu sein, \u00e4ndert die Denkweise v\u00f6llig.\u201c So musste sie erst lernen, ihre Sidewoman-Tugenden auf das eigene Werk zu \u00fcbertragen. Dennoch klingt die LP \u00fcber eine Trennung, die Fabiana Palladino den Boden unter den F\u00fc\u00dfen wegzog, nach m\u00fcheloser Souver\u00e4nit\u00e4t. In Wirklichkeit jedoch hat sie \u201eentsetzliche Angst davor, etwas zu ver\u00f6ffentlichen und es zu bereuen\u201c. Tats\u00e4chlich ist ihr Output zwischen 2011 und 2015 nur noch schwer online zu finden.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Minimalistisches Klangraum-Feng-Shui<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Somit beginnt ihre offizielle Diskografie nun mit der 2017er Single \u201eMystery\u201c auf Paul Institute. Sie war das erste Signing auf dem Label des verhinderten Avantgarde-R&amp;B-Hoffnungstr\u00e4gers Jai Paul, mit dem sie seither eng zusammenarbeitet. Wie Paul geht sie ihr Schaffen bed\u00e4chtig und \u201eSt\u00fcck f\u00fcr St\u00fcck an, weil es sehr seltsam und ein bisschen \u00fcberw\u00e4ltigend ist\u201c. F\u00fcr ihre erste LP wollte Palladino allerh\u00f6chstes Produktionsniveau: \u201eIch bin mit Musik aus Studios aufgewachsen, die von gro\u00dfartigen Musiker*innen gespielt und von brillanten Tontechniker*innen aufgenommen wurde.\u201c Dazu geh\u00f6rt offenkundig Prince mit seinem spartanischen Klangraum-Feng-Shui und kreativen Wagemut. W\u00e4hrend \u201eShoulda\u201c tats\u00e4chlich ein rockigerer 1987er Prince-Hit sein k\u00f6nnte, beschr\u00e4nken sich die offensichtlichen Prince-ismen ansonsten auf Arrangementdetails.<\/p>\n<p>\u201eIn The Fire\u201c hingegen erinnert an skelettale Missy-Elliott-Beats. Obschon sich auf dessen H\u00f6hepunkt Fl\u00f6te und Gitarrensolo surreal duellieren, ist im Song wie auf dem gesamten Album nichts \u00fcberfl\u00fcssig. Entfernte man ein Element, w\u00fcrde die Geschichte nicht mehr funktionieren. \u00c4hnlich ticken und klackern der Opener \u201eCloser\u201c und das nachfolgende \u201eCan You Look In The Mirror?\u201c. Prinzipiell sei das Songwriting eher traditionell, sagt Palladino. \u201eAber die Produktion ist es nicht. Ich versuche, bestimmte Erwartungen zu brechen.\u201c Daher w\u00e4re es bei dem meisten St\u00fccken \u00e4u\u00dferst umst\u00e4ndlich, sie mit Genrebegriffen zu beschreiben. Vollkommen klar hingegen ist die Produktion. Kristallklar und penibel aufger\u00e4umt, um genau zu sein. Dabei aber nie seelenlos oder steril.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Besseres harrt<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Den souligen Futurismus des Albums bringt die Motown-Duett-Abstraktion \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/tracks-des-tages\/i-care-fabiana-palladino-jai-paul-137996\/\">I Care<\/a>\u201c mit Jai Paul am besten auf den Punkt. Anf\u00e4nglich ersuchte Palladino Paul auch um Produktionsunterst\u00fctzung. Doch zu ihren Demos sagte er: \u201eDu hast es bereits produziert \u2013 es ist schon da.\u201c Heute ist Palladino nicht mehr die Sch\u00fclerin. Sondern eine gro\u00dfe Songwriterin, die auf die Dienste ihrer erweiterten Familienband zur\u00fcckgreift, um aus emotionalem Rohmaterial filigrane Skulpturen zu mei\u00dfeln. Zu der geh\u00f6ren Jai Paul, Pino und Rocco Palladino. Doch die Handschrift geh\u00f6rt Fabiana. Einer K\u00fcnstlerin, die uns nicht nur ver\u00f6ffentlichungstempotechnisch lehrt, welche Belohnung die Tugend des Wartens birgt. Beispielsweise, wenn die LP nach einer beeindruckenden ersten H\u00e4lfte ein neues Hitfeuerwerkniveau erklimmt.<\/p>\n<p>Genau in der Mitte prangt das Kronjuwel \u201eStay With Me Through The Night\u201c, dessen rhythmisches Feeling Funk und Disco inspirierten. \u201eAber wir wollten den Track in anderen Produktionsbereichen in eine andere Richtung lenken, um die gro\u00dfen Gef\u00fchle hervorzuheben\u201c, sagt Palladino \u00fcber diese erste Komposition f\u00fcr den Longplayer. \u201eDer Song versetzt uns in die emotionale Welt, die ich f\u00fcr den Rest des Albums schaffen wollte.\u201c Textlich wirft er uns zwischen die Tr\u00fcmmer einer langen Beziehung, deren Einsturz viele pers\u00f6nliche Lebensziele mit sich gerissen hat. \u201eEs schmerzt schon, akzeptieren zu m\u00fcssen, dass es nicht so gelaufen ist\u201c, sagt Palladino. \u201eAber: Wie kann ich das begr\u00fc\u00dfen und Kraft daraus sch\u00f6pfen?
