Todestag ihr Song \u201eBaby I'm Yours\u201c unser Track des Tages ist\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>Cass Elliot auf dem Cover ihres Albums \u201eMama&#8217;s Big Ones\u201c<\/h6>\n<p>Unser heutiger Track des Tages \u201eBaby I&#8217;m Yours\u201c war 1972 die Leadsingle des selbstbetitelten Albums von Cass Elliot aus demselben Jahr. Der Albumtitel und auch die Musik kamen einem Befreiungsschlag der US-amerikanischen S\u00e4ngerin gleich. Zwar war die LP bereits Elliots viertes Soloalbum, aber das erste, das die K\u00fcnstlerin aus Baltimore, Maryland nach der endg\u00fcltigen Aufl\u00f6sung ihrer Band The Mamas &amp; The Papas herausbrachte. Die Gruppe trennte sich nicht zuletzt, weil nach den Klangexperimenten von The Beatles und anderen ihr Trademark-Sound dem Label nicht mehr zeitgem\u00e4\u00df erschien. Auch Elliot selbst wollte weg vom Sunshine- und Bubblegum-Pop-Image, auch wenn es der Band enorme Erfolge wie \u201eCalifornia Dreamin&#8217;\u201c oder \u201eMonday, Monday\u201c beschert hatte. Doch auf ihrem ersten Album als Cass Elliot wandte sie sich nicht nur einem aktuelleren Sound zu.<\/p>\n<p>In ihren Jahren mit The Mamas &amp; The Papas hie\u00df die S\u00e4ngerin \u201eMama Cass\u201c \u2013 ein Pseudonym, mit dem sie sich nie hatte anfreunden k\u00f6nnen. Mit neuer k\u00fcnstlerischer Freiheit reihte sie sich ein in die gerade entstehende Singer-Songwriter-Tradition von Acts wie Judee Sill oder Carole King, wenngleich sie die St\u00fccke nicht selbst komponiert hatte. Unserem Track des Tages, urspr\u00fcnglich eine R&amp;B-Nummer, verpasste sie ein kontempor\u00e4res Country-Outfit. W\u00e4hrend das Album ein Liebling der Kritik wurde, verkaufte es sich nur mittelm\u00e4\u00dfig. Heute gilt es jedoch als eines ihrer besten. Nach einem weiteren Studio- und einem Live-Album starb Cass im Jahr 1974. Im Anschluss an ein gefeiertes London-Konzert kostete sie die Euphorie des Moments aus. Unter anderem besuchte sie Mick Jaggers 31. Geburtstag und eine Cocktail-Party. Nach 24 Stunden ging sie ersch\u00f6pft, aber guter Dinge nach Hause. Sie starb im Schlaf an einem Herzinfarkt.<\/p>\n<p>Die US-amerikanische S\u00e4ngerin Ellen Naomi \u201eCass Elliot\u201c Cohen starb heute vor 50 Jahren, am 29.
