{"id":148668,"date":"2024-12-31T07:00:18","date_gmt":"2024-12-31T06:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/?p=148668"},"modified":"2024-12-19T12:00:49","modified_gmt":"2024-12-19T11:00:49","slug":"party-fears-two-the-associates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/tracks-des-tages\/party-fears-two-the-associates-148668\/","title":{"rendered":"Partyneurosen: \u201eParty Fears Two\u201c von The Associates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"The Associates \u2013 \u201eParty Fears Two\u201c\" src=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/TheAssociates_TdT_885.jpg\" alt=\"Cover des Albums \u201eSulk\u201c von The Associates, deren Song \u201eParty Fears Two\u201c heute unser Track des Tages ist.\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>The Associates auf dem Cover ihres Albums \u201eSulk\u201c<\/h6>\n<p>Zu unserem Track des Tages \u201eParty Fears Two\u201c inspirierte die britische Band The Associates die Angst davor, eine Party zu verpassen. \u201eMein kleiner Bruder war auf einer Party, wo er zwei M\u00e4dels dabei beobachtete, die unbedingt reinkommen wollten\u201c, erinnerte sich S\u00e4nger Billy Mackenzie. \u201eSie schlugen die Fenster ein und versuchten, die T\u00fcr mit ihren St\u00f6ckelschuhen einzutreten, was ihn sehr beeindruckte, weshalb er sie \u201aParty-Angst-Zwei\u2018 taufte, und ich habe ihm den Titel entwendet.\u201c Erschienen ist das St\u00fcck im Jahr 1982 auf \u201eSulk\u201c, der zweiten und erfolgreichsten LP des schottischen Duos aus Dundee. Geschrieben hatten Mackenzie und sein Songwriting-Partner Alan Rankine das St\u00fcck bereits drei Jahre zuvor. Damals noch nicht als \u00fcberdrehten Glam-Smasher, sondern nur um ein Piano-Riff herum. \u201eDas war damals die Sp\u00e4tphase des Punk, f\u00fcr die der Song zu melodi\u00f6s, zu sch\u00f6n war\u201c, erkl\u00e4rte Rankine sp\u00e4ter. \u201eZu dieser Zeit war das einfach nicht hip.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Als mit den 80ern der hedonistische New Pop vor allem Gro\u00dfbritannien im Sturm nahm, war die Zeit f\u00fcr das St\u00fcck gekommen. The Associates hatten jegliche Post-Punk-D\u00fcsternis abgelegt und umarmten das neue Jahrzehnt \u00fcberschw\u00e4nglich. Wobei Mackenzies \u00dcberschwang keinem blau\u00e4ugigem Optimismus gleichkam. Eher sprach aus seinen Darbietungen eine neurotisch verbr\u00e4mte Euphorie. So zerschmettert der Protagonist unseres Track des Tages Tassen, sein Selbstwertgef\u00fchl und seine Manieren verlassen ihn auf der Party. Rankine beschreibt die Anekdote von Mackenzies Bruder weniger als Thema denn als Aufh\u00e4nger: \u201eBill und ich waren immer nur verdammte Au\u00dfenseiter. Wir geh\u00f6rten nie dazu. Wir f\u00fchlten uns wie Hochstapler. Als w\u00e4ren wir mit gef\u00e4lschten Papieren reingekommen. Wenn wir zu Partys eingelassen wurden, langweilten wir uns zu Tode, aber wir mussten uns selbst beweisen, dass wir da rein konnten. F\u00fcr mich geht es um Entfremdung, das Gef\u00fchl, nicht dazuzugeh\u00f6ren, und darum, dass es anderen Leuten anscheindend leichtf\u00e4llt.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Unser Track des Tages \u201eParty Fears Two\u201c von The Associates erschien 1982 auf dem Album \u201eSulk\u201c (Associates \/ Beggars Banquet).
