Unser heutiger Track des Tages \u201eParty Punisher\u201c ist eine neue Single des australischen Projekts Cool Sounds. Auf der kommenden LP des Acts aus Melbourne nimmt das St\u00fcck eine zentrale Position ein. Denn der Song ist nicht nur buchst\u00e4blich in der Albummitte positioniert, er ist auch der Titel-Track. Doch dass er exemplarisch f\u00fcr den Sound des Albums stehen w\u00fcrde, lie\u00dfe sich nicht guten Gewissens behaupten. Vielmehr kann man den Eindruck gewinnen, dass bei Cool Sounds nichts mehr exemplarisch f\u00fcr irgendetwas klingt. Doch, doch, einen gewissen Cool-Sounds-Sound gibt es schon, aber der ist eher eine Frage von Haltung und Produktion. So wirken die Songs nie, als h\u00e4tte man an ihnen gefeilt, bis zwar der Sound perfekt ist, aber die Seele schon l\u00e4ngst g\u00e4hnend weitergezogen. Zwar steckt jede Menge Liebe zum Detail in Arrangements und Musik, aber auch eine spontan wirkende Spielfreude.<\/p>\n

Genre- und besetzungstechnisch hat Cool Sounds schon einige Runden gedreht und Haken geschlagen. So begann alles einmal als relativ klassische janglige Indie-Pop-Band. Erst wuchs das Line-up zum Sextett an und schrumpfte dann auf die kleinstm\u00f6gliche Einheit. Nach Jangle-Pop und Americana-Ausfl\u00fcgen betrat Bandleader Dainis Lacey (quasi solo) auf der LP \u201eLike That<\/a>\u201c (2022) verst\u00e4rkt funky Territorien. Auf der EP \u201eBug0beat\u201c (2024) schraubten Lacey und sein Kumpel Dylan Young vor allem mit Synths und Samples herum. Die gibt es auch noch auf der kommenden LP, die unser Track des Tages ank\u00fcndigt. Aber im Vordergrund stehen wieder die Jangle-Gitarren. Ein geschlossener Kreis, vielleicht. Erschaffen jedenfalls von einem gr\u00f6\u00dferen Kreis. Denn Lacey hat auf seinem sechsten Album wieder eine sechsk\u00f6pfige Band im R\u00fccken. Und klingt dabei so spontan, freundlich und gel\u00f6st wie eh und je.<\/p>\n
