Mit der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung des St\u00fccks k\u00fcndigt der in Cambridge geborene Musiker, Produzent, Schriftsteller und Kunst-Galerist zudem ein neues Album an. Zwar gibt es noch kein Ver\u00f6ffentlichungsdatum, aber der Titel \u201eHigh Street\u201c steht schon einmal. Bereits im Oktober 2024, ziemlich genau ein Jahr nach der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung seiner LP \u201eStudio Sounds\u201c, hatte der in London ans\u00e4ssige K\u00fcnstler verk\u00fcndet, bereits seit einem Jahr an der Abmischung des n\u00e4chsten Albums zu sitzen. Das mag nach einem langsamen Prozess klingen, h\u00e4lt sich aber in Taylors Diskografie noch im Rahmen. So lag zwischen seinen Longplayern \u201eWaterland\u201c (1997)\u00a0und \u201eFrisbee\u201c (2021) ein knappes Vierteljahrhundert.<\/p>\n<p>In diesen 24 Jahren blieb Taylor der Musik nicht vollst\u00e4ndig fern, komponierte aber vorwiegend f\u00fcr Theaterb\u00fchnen, Film-Soundtracks und Videospiel-Scores. Daneben begann er auch, in der Londoner Riflemaker-Galerie Kunst zu kuratieren und arbeitete dort unter anderem mit Yoko Ono. Vor \u201eFrisbee\u201c legte Taylor die Musik dann aber doch anderthalb Jahrzehnte lang g\u00e4nzlich auf Eis, um seinen ersten Roman \u201eThe Story Of John Nightly\u201c zu schreiben. Vor diesem Hintergrund sind anderthalb Jahre Abmischung quasi gar nichts. Nach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/tot-taylor-yoko-oh-94699\/\">j\u00fcngeren Songs<\/a> \u00fcber Yoko Ono oder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/trump-und-makrobiotik-neues-von-tot-taylor-101576\/\">Donald Trump und Makrobiotik<\/a> wirkt das neue St\u00fcck fast wie eine melancholisch verlangsamte Variation von \u201eMr. Blue Sky\u201c (Electric Light Orchestra). Dazu eine an die Pet Shop Boys gemahnende Melodief\u00fchrung, eingebettet in Taylors akribisches, aber m\u00fche- und zeitlos klingendes Arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>Das Album \u201eHigh Street\u201c von Tot Taylor wird auf dem Label Rough Trade erscheinen.
