Und das Gesundheitsministerium sollte es zahlen.\u201c Gut, dieser Ansatz mag ein wenig utopisch sein (man denke nur an die Logistik!). Aber der Gedanke ist nachvollziehbar \u2013 ist doch der Kammerpop seiner Gruppe The Divine Comedy seit \u00fcber 35 Jahren ein verl\u00e4sslicher Balsam f\u00fcr die Seele. Seit dem Deb\u00fct \u201eFanfare For The Comic Muse\u201c aus dem Jahr 1990 haben der nordirische S\u00e4nger und Songschreiber und seine Mitstreiter*innen den bitters\u00fc\u00dfen Pop-Song, der sich nicht vor der Dunkelheit der Welt verschlie\u00dft und gleichzeitig Trost spenden kann, perfektioniert.<\/p>\n<p>Ihr 13. Album \u201eRainy Sunday Afternoon\u201c erscheint nun in besonders melancholischen Zeiten. Hannons letztes gro\u00dfes Projekt war der Soundtrack zur starbesetzten Roald-Dahl-Adaption \u201eWonka\u201c (2023), bei dem er seine humorvolle, verspielte Seite ausleben konnte. Doch hier, im vollen Divine-Comedy-Modus, geht er wieder in die Dunkelheit: Und so beginnt das Album in einem Sch\u00fctzengraben des Ersten Weltkriegs. \u201eAchilles\u201c ist eine Variation auf ein Gedicht eines 1917 gestorbenen Soldaten, das Hannon direkt mit seiner eigenen Angst vor dem Sterben in Verbindung bringt, mit schlichten Worten: \u201eFor we, the living \/ Death is the Achilles heel.\u201c Der Tod ist unser aller Achillesferse.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Den Wahnsinn ertr\u00e4glich machen<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Nach der Auseinandersetzung mit dem Tod geht es weiter mit dem Thema Demenz in \u201eThe Last Time I Saw The Old Man\u201c: \u201eHis hands seemed so fragile and grey \/ I was worried I might break them \/ Showed him pictures but he didn\u2019t understand\u201c, singt Hannons vibratolastiger Bariton \u00fcber schleppende Piano-Akkorde und eine wehm\u00fctige Trompete. \u201eRainy Sunday Afternoon\u201c wurde in den Abbey-Road-Studios aufgenommen \u2013 und Hannon nutzt das volle dramatische Potenzial dieses gro\u00dfen Sounds aus. Diese Schwermut bezieht sich nicht nur auf pers\u00f6nliche Themen, sondern auch auf politische: \u201eI try not to fixate on the state of the world \/ I wonder if one day the doom and gloom will disappear\u201c, singt er im Titelsong. Und weiter: \u201eAnd the men who rule by fear \/ Will realise the error of their ways.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Doch \u201eRainy Sunday Afternoon\u201c w\u00e4re kein The-Divine-Comedy-Album, wenn die Dunkelheit siegen w\u00fcrde. Hannons Spezialit\u00e4t war schon immer ein trotziger Galgenhumor \u2013 und den gibt es hier zuhauf. Nirgends so stark wie im Album-Highlight \u201eMar-a-Lago By The Sea\u201c, ein \u00e4tzend-witziges Portr\u00e4t der kitschig-prunkvollen Residenz des amtierenden US-Pr\u00e4sidenten. Das Orchester spielt eine schmierige Rumba, w\u00e4hrend Hannon von goldenen Toiletten, schlechten Golfern und faschistischen Blutsaugern singt: \u201eMar-a-Lago, how I miss \/ The golden johns in which I pissed \/ All that ostentatious wealth \/ The paintings of myself \/ When I was young and free.\u201c Da ist sie wieder, die Divine-Comedy-Kunst, die Wahnsinn ertr\u00e4glich machen kann. <\/p>\n<p>Ver\u00f6ffentlichung: 19.
