Es ist ein Album \u00fcber das Ber\u00fchren und ber\u00fchrt werden. Wie schon das Cover demonstriert, das ein Foto eines K\u00f6rpers zeigt, in dessen Haut der Name impr\u00e4gniert wurde. Nicht durch Gewalt, sondern durch sanften Druck. \u201eNo More Like This\u201c hei\u00dft die Platte. Der Titel klingt wie eine Verweigerung, scheint aber mehr ein Wunsch: eine sinnliche Utopie. Nicht mehr so wie fr\u00fcher, sondern anders. N\u00e4her, liebevoller, empathischer. \u201eI don&#8217;t see what humans mean \/ And I look at you and now I see the need\u201c, hei\u00dft es in \u201e<a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/tracks-des-tages\/enough-pva-155298\/\">Enough<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>Die Musik des S\u00fcd-Londoner Trios war schon von Anfang an sehr k\u00f6rperlich. S\u00e4ngerin Ella Harris, Keyboarder Josh Baxter und Drummer Louis Satchell fanden Ende des vergangenen Jahrzehnts in dem mittlerweile legend\u00e4ren \u00d6kosystem um den Club The Windmill zusammen. W\u00e4hrend Szene-Kolleg*innen wie Black Midi oder Squid vertrackte Post-Punk-Fusion praktizierten, spielten PVA auf ihrem Deb\u00fct \u201eBlush\u201c (2022) eine stark ballernde Mischung aus Synth-Punk und Acid-House. Schwitzige Tracks f\u00fcr zu kleine Dancefloors, angetrieben von Harris\u2019 gleichzeitig unterk\u00fchlten und intensiven, fast schon gesprochenen Vocals. <\/p>\n<h4><strong>Sinnliche Utopien und kollabierende Dancefloors<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Diese K\u00f6rper-Musik wird auf \u201eNo More Like This\u201c auf ein noch h\u00f6heres Niveau gehievt \u2013 und zwar nicht durch Steigerung: PVAs Sound ist subtiler geworden. Der knallige Electroclash des Deb\u00fcts ist einem oberfl\u00e4chlich zur\u00fcckgenommeneren, aber unter der Oberfl\u00e4che deutlich bedrohlicherem Trip-Hop-Sound gewichen \u2013 wie der Opener \u201eRain\u201c demonstriert. Der Refrain von \u201eBoyface\u201c liest sich aggressiv sexuell (\u201eMy jaw drops, your claws hit \/ To the fat of my cheek \/ You take a bite\u201c), doch die Musik darunter groovt in Portishead&#8217;schem Tempo. Der Sub-Bass schleicht in bester Massive-Attack-Manier durch die Zwischenr\u00e4ume, w\u00e4hrend Harris\u2019 Stimme zwischen k\u00fchlem Spoken-Word und einem bislang ungeh\u00f6rten, zarten Vibrato oszilliert. <\/p>\n<p>Baxter geht im Verlauf der zehn Songs \u00e4hnlich dynamisch mit seinen Synths um: Mal t\u00e4nzeln sie warm um den Gesang, mal stechen sie wie Eisregen. Auf \u201eNo More Like This\u201c gibt es viele zarte Momente \u2013 aber auch die brachiale, wie den H\u00f6hepunkt von \u201eSend\u201c, der fast an den Noise-Dance-Punk von Model\/Actriz erinnert. \u201eHave you caught my kiss?\u201c, fragt Harris, w\u00e4hrend der Dancefloor um sie herum knarzend kollabiert. K\u00f6rper scheinen dabei f\u00fcr sie nicht nur sinnliche Instrumente, sondern die Wurzel f\u00fcr Kreativit\u00e4t zu sein. \u201eLay your hands in such a way \/ Your fingers twisting to create\u201c, singt sie in \u201ePeel\u201c, im besten Refrain des Albums. \u201eI don&#8217;t know what to say right now \/ But that&#8217;s okay &#8218;cause we&#8217;re writing it down\u201c.
