\u201eCherry\u201c ist die dritte Single vom kommenden Album des US-amerikanischen Singer-Songwriters Son Little. Es h\u00f6rt auf den Namen \u201eCityfolk\u201c, was im Englischen vor allem Gro\u00dfstadtmenschen bezeichnet. Aber man k\u00f6nnte es auch lesen als \u201eurbane Folklore\u201c, die sich hier haupts\u00e4chlich in Form von R&B und Soul mit Gospel-Einschlag manifestiert. All diese Elemente haben tiefe Wurzeln in den S\u00fcdstaaten, wo der in Kalifornien geborene Musiker inzwischen lebt. Sein Umzug in die Umgebung von Atlanta, Georgia bewegte etwas in dem K\u00fcnstler. So ist f\u00fcr Son Little \u201eCityfolk\u201c eindeutig das Produkt seiner Umgebung: \u201eEinfach nur dadurch, dass ich hierherkam, passierte etwas. Weil meine ganze Familie m\u00fctterlicherseits aus South Carolina und Georgia kam, fand ich es interessant, dass ich mich irgendwie zu diesem Ort hingezogen f\u00fchlte.\u201c F\u00fcr \u201eCityfolk\u201c zog es ihn noch tiefer in den S\u00fcden. Mit von seiner Familiengeschichte inspirierten Songideen ging er ins Muscle-Shoals-Studio in Sheffield, Alabama. Dort haben seit 1969 Aretha Franklin, The Rolling Stones oder Wilson Pickett Klassiker aufgenommen. Mit Ben Tanner (Keyboarder bei Alabama Shakes) als Co-Produzenten arbeitete Little mit Rhythmus- und Bl\u00e4sersektion vor Ort seine Handy-Songskizzen in Jam-Sessions zu fertigen St\u00fccken aus.<\/p>\n
