\u201eWide Awake\u201c hei\u00dft die erste Single des Jahres 2026 von Pearl & The Oysters. Noch hat das franz\u00f6sisch-kalifornische Duo kein neues Album oder anderweitiges gr\u00f6\u00dferes Projekt angek\u00fcndigt, in dessen Zusammenhang die Ver\u00f6ffentlichung steht. Allerdings empfiehlt das Label Stones Throw Records vielversprechenderweise, die Band in n\u00e4chster Zeit im Auge zu behalten. Was sich bei dem nerdigen, aber \u00e4u\u00dferst zug\u00e4nglichen Pop des \u00e4u\u00dferst charmanten Paars Juliette \u201eJuju\u201c Pearl Davis und Joachim \u201eJojo\u201c Polack ohnehin stets lohnt. Wie h\u00e4ufig<\/a> bei Pearl & The Oysters hat unser fidel klingender Track des Tages einen deutlich weniger fidelen Kern. Denn bevor 70s-Westcoast-Sounds zwischen The Beach Boys und Todd Rundgren dazukamen, schrieb Juju den Song, um sich selbst zu beschwichtigen. Er ist n\u00e4mlich das Resultat einer Panikattacke, die sie kurz nach den Feuerverw\u00fcstungen in Kalifornien<\/a> Anfang 2025 erlitt. Letztlich wurde der Song zugleich Liebeslied und Ausdruck von Kummer, w\u00e4hrend die Band beschwingt groovt.
