Zwei S\u00e4tze, die einen ganzen Film vor dem inneren Auge ablaufen lassen: die elf aneinander gesetzten Songtitel des Albums \u201eHerself\u201c von Console. Da liegt es nat\u00fcrlich nahe, hinter der neuen Platte von Console-Mastermind Martin Gretschmann ein Konzeptalbum zu vermuten. Doch viel mehr als eine gemeinsame Geschichte verbindet die Songs von \u201eHerself\u201c eine Sound\u00e4sthetik. Gretschmann hat mit \u201eHerself\u201c das bislang elektronischste Console-Album aufgenommen. Ein minimalistisches Album, das im Ambient fu\u00dft, aber immer wieder sanfte Ausrei\u00dfer Richtung Techno und Pop unternimmt.<\/p>\n

Dass das gut geht, hat neben Gretschmanns sensiblem Gesp\u00fcr f\u00fcr Sound auch mit S\u00e4ngerin Miriam Osterrieder zu tun. Ihre distanzierte und gleichzeitig warme Stimme verbindet unaufdringlich die Soundlandschaften von \u201eHerself\u201c. Soundlandschaften, die sich langsam entfalten, denen Gretschmann gen\u00fcgend Raum l\u00e4sst und die so tief sind, wie man es lange nicht geh\u00f6rt hat \u2013 die aber wie in den Songs \u201eBit For Bit\u201c, \u201eUpon\u201c oder \u201eHer Eyes\u201c immer wieder von energischen Perkussion-Parts und Soundexperimenten durchbrochen werden.<\/p>\n

Vielleicht ist \u201eHerself\u201c ja genau das Album geworden, das jemand wie Martin Gretschmann selbst braucht. Ein St\u00fcck Enstpannung zwischen all seinen Projekten mit The Notwist und 13&God, zwischen der Produktion von H\u00f6rspielen und seiner Arbeit unter dem Pseudonym Acid Pauli.
\nDazu passt ganz gut, dass Gretschmann die ersten Songs f\u00fcr \u201eHerself\u201c am Laptop im Tourbus von The Notwist entworfen hat. Ein vielbesch\u00e4ftigter Mann eben.<\/p>\n
