Hab ich da die falsche CD im Player? „Phoenix“, der Albumopener von „The Bird Is Coming Down To Earth“ klingt doch sehr nach den immens popul\u00e4ren Fleet Foxes. Es ist daher berechtigt, wenn sich der geneigte Konsument fragt, ob er diese Platte noch im Schrank braucht, wenn da schon genannte F\u00fcchse, Laura Gibson<\/a> oder andere Musiker der neuen amerikanischen Folk-Welle stehen. Denn auch die Soft Hills brauen hier mit den gleichen Zutaten: Reverb en masse, Akustikgitarrengeklimpere, stampfend-galoppierende Drums und sehns\u00fcchtige Harmoniech\u00f6re, gesungen von vier M\u00e4nnern mit B\u00e4rten.<\/p>\n

Doch warum nicht, es muss es ja auch nicht immer musikalisch avantgardem\u00e4\u00dfig inspiriert sein. Dem Boss h\u00e4lt ja auch keiner mehr vor, dass er nur die 70er Variante von Dylan war, genauso wie Beck, Noel Gallagher oder die Beta Band ja auch nichts anderes taten, als von m\u00f6glichst vielen anderen zu klauen. So nehmen The Soft Hills halt ihre B\u00fchnenoutfits von Animal Collective und Synthieankl\u00e4nge, z.B. im Lied „Midnight Owls“, k\u00f6nnten auch von OK Computer stammen, na und? Wenigstens treten sie im Gegensatz zum oben genannten Hauptreferenzpunkt Fleet Foxes (die sich mit den Hills \u00fcbrigens auch \u00fcberraschenderweise die Heimatstadt Seattle teilen) hin und wieder mal auf die Fuzz Box. Ihr Anbandeln mit Psychedelica-Elementen ist n\u00e4mlich genau das, was dem Folk hier den Staub von der M\u00fctze bl\u00e4st. Und sowieso werden The Soft Hills einfach gebraucht, weil Potheads immer Bands und Alben brauchen, in die sie komplett abtauchen k\u00f6nnen.<\/p>\n

Die Hillys haben also aufgepasst: Alle Komponenten sind vorhanden, um Buzz in der Indieblogosphere zu generieren und, wie gesagt, warum sollte sie dies auch nicht. Denn in den einschl\u00e4gigen Szene-Etablissements der Welt rotierten auch schon schlechtere Platten als „The Bird Is Coming Down To Earth“. Negativ auffallen werden die Soft Hills neben den anderen jedenfalls weder hier noch in den Bildstrecken von Musikexpress und Co.<\/p>\n
