Spring Leads You Home Tonight<\/a> sind acht junge Hamburger, respektive L\u00fcneburger, die im Dezember 2011 ihr Deb\u00fct \u201eLetters Of The Lost\u201c fertiggestellt haben – in Eigenregie, ganz ohne Label. Am 04.05. erscheint dann das Erstlingswerk ganz offiziell bei Popup Records. Das nahmen wir zum Anlass, uns mit der Dame und den Herren, die bisher lediglich eine selbst betitelte, kostenlos downloadbare EP<\/a> im Angebot hatten, n\u00e4her zu besch\u00e4ftigen und sie zu befragen. Aber fangen wir von vorne an, am 21. Mai des vergangenen Jahres: Okkervil River haben sich f\u00fcr ein Konzert im Hamburger Club Uebel & Gef\u00e4hrlich angek\u00fcndigt. W\u00e4hrend noch immer Menschen in den Konzertsaal str\u00f6men, der bereits gut besucht ist, betritt eine etwas sch\u00fcchtern wirkende Vorband die B\u00fchne. Im Publikum herrscht die typische Nicht-Reaktion, andauerndes Gerede, lautes Lachen und wildes Zuprosten. Was aber sogar dem noch unaufmerksamen Publikum auff\u00e4llt: \u201eDas sind ja ganz sch\u00f6n Viele!\u201c (Zitat eines Konzertbesuchers). Recht hat der Mann: sieben Musiker auf der B\u00fchne, plus eine sch\u00f6ne Background-Stimme hinter dem Mischpult.<\/p>\n

Nach den ersten Songs ist dann Erstaunliches zu beobachten. Der Saal im steinernen Bunker an der Feldstra\u00dfe verf\u00e4llt in etwas, was man durchaus als and\u00e4chtiges Schweigen bezeichnen k\u00f6nnte. Als der S\u00e4nger jener Band dann auch noch ins Mikro fl\u00fcstert, dass man eben Spring Leads You Home Tonight hei\u00dfe und aus Hamburg komme, wird das Staunen bei einigen Besuchern noch gr\u00f6\u00dfer. Eine brennende Frage besch\u00e4ftigt auch noch Tage danach: Diese Band kommt aus Hamburg und ich habe weder von ihnen geh\u00f6rt, noch habe ich sie jemals irgendwo live gesehen?<\/p>\n

Das musste nachgeholt werden:
\nEs folgen in den Wochen und Monaten darauf ein Gig auf dem Lunatic-Festival in L\u00fcneburg, ein Auftritt im Rahmen des Fleetstreet-Projektes, eine Einladung zum Knust-Sommerfest, wo man sich u.a. mit Golden Kanine die B\u00fchne teilte, sowie einige weitere Termine (u.a. als Support f\u00fcr Meursault und Dark Dark Dark).<\/p>\n

Bei der musikalischen Verortung des Oktetts fallen gerne Namen wie Arcade Fire, Damien Rice, Bright Eyes, auch von The Cure war schon die Rede. Subjektiv betrachtet: Alles nicht so verkehrt, aber so richtig treffen es die Vergleiche dann doch nicht.
\nVersuchen wir es anders herum: Zu bieten haben die acht einen ziemlich ausgefeilten Sound, viel musikalische Tiefe, manchmal auch Schwere, ein intelligentes und durchaus melancholisches Songwriting – all das gepaart mit Sebastian Schweigatz\u2019 wundervoller und eindringlicher Stimme.
\nDie Summe ergibt eine beachtenswerte Band, die zudem auch noch sympathisch ist.<\/p>\n
