Rebell, Outlaw, \u201cMan in Black\u201d! Einer der einflussreichsten und wichtigsten Musiker des vergangenen Jahrhunderts erblickte vor 80 Jahren das Licht der Welt:Johnny Cash!<\/p>\n

Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.<\/p>\n

Mit diesen Worten, gefolgt von \u201cFolsom Prison Blues\u201d begr\u00fc\u00dfte Johnny Cash sein Publikum bei nahezu jedem seiner Auftritte. Der Song entstand w\u00e4hrend seines dreij\u00e4hrigen Milit\u00e4rdienstes bei der US-Air Force in Deutschland und erz\u00e4hlt in der ganz eigenen und empathischen Art des Johnny Cash die Geschichte eines verurteilten Gefangenen.<\/p>\n

Schuld und S\u00fchne, die Schattenseiten des Lebens, das Gute und das B\u00f6se, sowie der Glaube an Gott bilden die Inhalte und Themen vieler seiner Songs. \u201cI\u00b4m the biggest sinner of all them\u201d, so sah sich Cash zeitlebens selber. Vielleicht erz\u00e4hlte er deshalb die meisten seiner Geschichten in der Ich-Perspektive, wie eben bei \u201cFolsom Prison Blues\u201d (\u201eBut I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die\u201c) oder auch \u201cCocaine Blues\u201d (\u201cI took a shot of cocaine and I shot my woman down\u201d). Und vielleicht war eben dieses starke Verbundenheitsgef\u00fchl Cashs mit \u201eOutlaws\u201c oder Au\u00dfenseitern jeglicher Art ausschlaggebend f\u00fcr seinen ersten Live Auftritt im San Quentin State Prison 1958. Seitdem trat Cash regelm\u00e4\u00dfig in verschiedenen US-amerikanischen Gef\u00e4ngnisanstalten auf und versuchte, seine Plattenfirma davon zu \u00fcberzeugen, ein Live-Album aufzunehmen. Dies gelang ihm schlie\u00dflich 1968 und das Live-Album \u201eJohnny Cash At Folsom Prison\u201c wurde ver\u00f6ffentlicht und erreichte Platz 2 der Country-Album-Charts.
\nObwohl Cash stets das romantische Image eines Gesetzlosen aufrechterhielt, verbrachte er selbst nie l\u00e4nger als einen Tag im Gef\u00e4ngnis. Eines dieser Erlebnisse verarbeitete er in dem Song \u201eStarkville City Jail\u201c, als er wegen des Pfl\u00fcckens von Blumen auf einem Privatgrundst\u00fcck verhaftet wurde.<\/p>\n

Country-Superstar<\/strong><\/h4>\n

J.R. Cash wurde als viertes von insgesamt sieben Kindern des Farmerehepaares Ray Cash und Carrie Cloveree Rivers Cash, am 26. Februar 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas geboren und wuchs auf den Baumwollfeldern in Dyess auf. Die wirtschaftlichen und pers\u00f6nlichen Schicksalsschl\u00e4ge seiner Familie verarbeitete Cash sp\u00e4ter in seinen Songs.
\nNach seiner R\u00fcckkehr aus Deutschland, hielt Cash sich und seine frisch angetraute erste Ehefrau, Vivian Liberto, als Vertreter f\u00fcr Elektroartikel \u00fcber Wasser. Bis er eines Tages schlie\u00dflich den Mut fand, Sam Phillips von Sun Records seine Songs vorzuspielen, trat er mit seiner Band, den Tennessee Two, sp\u00e4ter Tennessee Three, in verschiedenen Clubs in Memphis auf. Im Juni 1955 wurde die erste Single (\u201cHey Porter\u201d, \u201cCry! Cry! Cry!) ver\u00f6ffentlicht und Cash hatte seinen ersten gro\u00dfen Auftritt im Vorprogramm von Elvis Presley.<\/p>\n

Es folgte sein erster Nummer-Eins-Hit \u201cI Walk The Line\u201d in den Country-Charts und zahlreiche Auftritte. Mit steigenden Leistungsdruck und der H\u00e4ufung famili\u00e4rer Konflikte mit seiner Frau Vivian, fl\u00fcchtete sich Cash immer h\u00e4ufiger in die tr\u00f6stenden Arme von Alkohol, Amphetaminen und Barbituraten. Von eben dieser Drogensucht und seiner heimlichen Liebe zu June Carter handelte auch einer seiner gr\u00f6\u00dften Hits \u201eRing Of Fire\u201c. Im M\u00e4rz 1968, zwei Jahre nach seiner Scheidung von Vivian Liberto und 13 Jahre nach dem ersten Treffen Backstage auf einer gro\u00dfen Country-Veranstaltung, heirateten Johnny Cash und June Carter. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter wurde ihr gemeinsamer Sohn John Carter Cash geboren. Auch er ist heute Country-S\u00e4nger.<\/p>\n

Johnny Cash ist einer der einflussreichsten US-amerikanischen Musiker des 20. Jahrhunderts. Der stets schwarz gekleidete Mann, mit seiner unverwechselbaren Bassbariton-Stimme schrieb etwa 500 Songs und verkaufte mehr als 53 Millionen Tontr\u00e4ger. Er war Schauspieler, Autor und moderierte seine eigene TV-Show, in der er unter anderem Ber\u00fchmtheiten, wie seinen langj\u00e4hrigen Freund und ehemaligen Nachbarn Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder und Ray Charles zu Gast hatte. \u201eThe Man In Black\u201c ist nicht nur als j\u00fcngster Musiker in die Country Music Hall Of Fame aufgenommen worden, sondern auch in die Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame und der Gospel Music Hall Of Fame. Bis zu seinem Tod im September 2003, arbeitete er, trotz schwerer Krankheit, an seinem letzten gro\u00dfen Werk: \u201eThe American Recordings\u201c; die letzten beiden Alben dieser Reihe erschienen posthum.<\/p>\n

Nach Johnny Cashs Tod wurden Hunderte B\u00e4nder bisher unver\u00f6ffentlichter Aufnahmen gefunden. Ein kleiner Teil dieser Aufnahmen wurde bereits 2006 auf dem Album \u201ePersonal File\u201c ver\u00f6ffentlicht.
