Ward &#8211; &quot;A Wasteland Companion&quot;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.byte.fm\/magazin\/images\/mwardmag.jpg\" alt=\"(Bella Union\/Cooperative Music)\" width=\"885\" align=\"center\"\/><font size=\"-8\">(Bella Union\/Cooperative Music)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#FF0000\" size=\"+2\"><b>8,0<\/b><\/font><\/p>\n<p>So ganz kommt Matthew Ward nicht los von seiner She-&#038;-Him-Kollaborateurin Zooey Deschanel, die neben ihrer neuen T\u00e4tigkeit als &#8222;adorable&#8220; Sitcom-Star noch ein bisschen Zeit f\u00fcr ihren alten Bandkumpel gefunden hat und nun mit ihrer &#8222;bezaubernden&#8220; Froschstimme auch auf M. Wards neuem Soloalbum zu h\u00f6ren ist.<\/p>\n<p>Die Songs auf &#8222;A Wasteland Companion&#8220; klingen eigentlich, wie Wards Songs immer klangen: nach Sonne, doch nicht nach der am Ballermann, sondern vielmehr nach einer dr\u00fcckend schweren S\u00fcdstaaten-Sonne (keine Sorge, hin und wieder fegt mal eine frische Brise die Schw\u00fcle hinfort). Jeder einzelne dieser Songs ist wieder ein Salbeibonb\u00f6nchen f\u00fcr die Seele, denn wenn sich Ward auf eines versteht, dann die Emotionen, die sein Gesichtsausdruck vermissen l\u00e4sst (ernsthaft, der Typ guckt auf jedem Foto gleich starr), in seine Musik zu packen. Wie auf Wards fr\u00fcheren Alben, findet sich auch auf &#8222;A Wasteland Companion&#8220; ein Coversong; diesmal nimmt er sich dabei schon zum zweiten Mal dem Outsider-Music-Paten Daniel Johnston an, dessen &#8222;Sweetheart&#8220; Ward gelungen nach v\u00f6lliger Aneignung neu interpretiert.<\/p>\n<p>Man braucht das neue Album vielleicht nicht unbedingt, wenn man schon &#8222;Hold Time&#8220; oder eines der anderen Vorg\u00e4ngeralben im Schrank hat, doch auch wenn ich es anderen K\u00fcnstlern oft krumm nehme, wenn sie Weiterentwicklung vermissen lassen, kann M.
