Label-Compilations sind ja so eine Sache. Einen Querschnitt \u00fcber ein gesamtes musikalisches Repertoire zu geben, scheitert oftmals und l\u00e4sst Compilations nicht unbedingt im besten Licht dastehen. Einige haben dagegen ein gl\u00fcckliches H\u00e4ndchen und kreieren Zusammenstellungen, die das Label und dessen K\u00fcnstler im besten Licht widerspiegeln und Lust auf mehr machen. So verh\u00e4lt es sich mit dem M\u00fcnchner Label Permanent Vacation. Dieses wurde 2006 von Tom Bioly und Benjamin Fr\u00f6hlich gegr\u00fcndet und hat seitdem stets an Popularit\u00e4t gewonnen. Sei es nun dank der hervorragenden Musik- und K\u00fcnstlerauswahl oder der speziellen Genre-Nische, der Permanent Vacation kontinuierlich treu bleibt – das Label birgt einige musikalische Sch\u00e4tze, die nur darauf warten, entdeckt zu werden. So wurde im Jahre 2009 die erste Compilation mit dem Titel „Selected Label Works“ ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Es folgten zwei weitere Zusammenstellungen im Jahr 2010 und 2011. Inzwischen steht Permanent Vacation vor der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung des vierten Teils der „Selected-Label-Works“-Reihe.<\/p>\n

Die Compilation umfasst vor allem die letzten beiden Jahre des Labels, und die Bandbreite der Produzenten, DJs und Interpreten, die in dieser Zeit f\u00fcr das Label aktiv waren, ist enorm. Der Opener des 23 Tracks umfassenden Albums ist von der Irin Ro\u00eds\u00edn Murphy mit ihrem „vintage disco glimmer“ „Simulation“. Dieser Track ist zus\u00e4tzlich noch in einem Mix von Mano Le Tough enthalten. Und dies ist bei dieser Compilation keine Seltenheit: Die Musiker-Kollegen mixen ihre Werke gegenseitig und arbeiten zusammen an neuen Kollaborationen.<\/p>\n

Besonders h\u00e4ufig ist auch der aus Barcelona stammende und \u00e4u\u00dferst popul\u00e4r gewordene Produzent John Talabot vertreten. Dessen Deb\u00fctalbum „Fin“ wurde von den Kritikern regelrecht in den Himmel gelobt \u2013 so gab es vom britischen „Guardian“ die H\u00f6chstauszeichnung von f\u00fcnf Sternen, ein regelrechter Ritterschlag. Zwei Tracks von diesem Meisterwerk, \u201eDestiny\u201c und „So Will Be Now“, sind in Zusammenarbeit mit seinem Kollegen Pional aus Madrid entstanden und klingen wie eine Kreuzung von UK-Garage mit 80er-Disco.<\/p>\n

„Retro Futuristic in the truest sense of the word“ – so beschreibt das Label das Musikerkollektiv Parallel Dance Ensemble: Deren Oldschool-Party-Vibe-Track „Shopping Cart“ liegt in der Maxxi-Soundsystem-Remix-Version vor und erfreut Ohren, Herz und Tanzbein mit einer dominanten Bassline, die ihresgleichen sucht. Es ist die Abwechslung, die diese Labelcompilation zu einem musikalischen Juwel machen: Tanzbare Disco-Boogie-Bombs wechseln sich mit sph\u00e4rischen und sanften Midtempo-Nummern ab. Monotone und fantasielose Arrangements sucht man (zum Gl\u00fcck) vergeblich.<\/p>\n

Das M\u00fcnchner Label Permanent Vacation beeindruckt durch gro\u00dfartige K\u00fcnstler und exquisite Musik, und hierbei ist der Name des Labels Programm: Die Songs klingen schlicht und ergreifend nach einer ordentlichen Portion Spa\u00df. Eben ganz wie ein Urlaub in Retro-Disco-Gefilden, von dem man sich w\u00fcnscht, er m\u00f6ge nie zu Ende gehen.<\/p>\n
