Nicht ganz in die Maske gepasst haben Tom Clarke und Sam Ricketts, die hinter dem Pseudonym Cloud Boat stecken. Mit ihrem pr\u00e4genden Gesang auf Loops und Effekten, dazu eine \u00c4sthetik, die sich von vielen der urbanen Motive und abstrakten Formen unterschied, haben sie sich dennoch in einige Playlists gespielt. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter tauchten sie wieder auf mit &#8222;Wanderlust&#8220; und dem ersten Album &#8222;Book Of Hours&#8220;, schon mehr als Singer-Songwriter angekommen als in der Tanzmusik verwurzelt. <\/p>\n<p>Es wundert also nicht, dass auch das zweite Album der beiden Produzenten sicher auch einige ihrer ersten H\u00f6rer und H\u00f6rerinnen vor den Kopf sto\u00dfen wird. Ein Jahr Zeit haben sich die beiden Londoner f\u00fcr das neue Album genommen und an dem get\u00fcftelt, was nun ihr Sound sein soll. Gr\u00f6\u00dfer, reicher und epischer sollte es werden, das, was vorher blo\u00df Fahrwasser war, tiefer, mitrei\u00dfender und abenteuerlicher.<\/p>\n<p>Das Ergebnis ist Pathos. Es liegt in den schweren, oftmals schwerm\u00fctigen Produktionen des britischen Duos. Es wabert mit in b\u00f6sen Gitarren, in dunklen Synths, in pluckernden B\u00e4ssen, in den In- und Outros der St\u00fccke, die sich langsam aufbauen oder sph\u00e4risch verlaufen, sogar im pulsierenden Beat der schon fast positiven St\u00fccke &#8222;The Glow&#8220; und &#8222;Aurelia&#8220;. Ganz besonders steckt es aber im Gesang von Tom Clarke \u2013 mal zerbrechlich, mal energetisch, aber immer dramatisch.<\/p>\n<p>Die bereits Ende M\u00e4rz ver\u00f6ffentliche Single &#8222;Carmine&#8220; versprach schon diese Mischung aus elektronischer Instrumentierung und folkiger Dramaturgie, was das Album einh\u00e4lt. Die gr\u00f6\u00dfte St\u00e4rke hat es dennoch entweder in ebendiesem Song &#8222;Carmine&#8220; und seiner mitnehmenden Melodie, oder aber in &#8222;Golden Lights&#8220;, keine zwei Minuten lang und instrumental, wo nicht nur auf den Gesang, sondern auch auf eine konkrete Richtung verzichtet wird.
