Beim Woodstock-Festival 1969 waren die Mengen erstaunt dar\u00fcber, wie schnell Alvin Lee seine Gitarre spielte. Einige Minuten des Konzerts seiner Band Ten Years After tauchen im Woodstock-Film auf und machten ihn und die Band sehr ber\u00fchmt. Alvin Lee war in den Augen vieler Fans und Mitmusikerinnen und -musikern der schnellste Gitarrist der Welt.<\/p>\n

Alles begann 1962 in England. Hier spielte Lee, der am 19. Dezember 1944 in Nottingham geboren wurde, bei der Beatband The Jaybirds. Sie beschlossen, gemeinsam nach Hamburg zu gehen und im Star Club ihr Gl\u00fcck zu versuchen, wie es kurz zuvor The Beatles getan hatten. Das gelang ihnen auch, doch einige Zeit sp\u00e4ter ging es zur\u00fcck nach London. Hier fand die Gruppe zum Bluesrock.<\/p>\n

Nach einigen Namenswechseln war Ten Years After geboren. Ihr Deb\u00fctalbum erschien 1967, danach folgten Tourneen in Skandinavien und den Staaten, wo sie sehr gut ankamen. Alvin Lee verlie\u00df die Band 1973, da ihm der Stilwechsel Richtung Pop missfiel. Zusammen mit Musikern wie George Harrison, Ron Wood und Mick Fleetwood nahm er seine erste Platte „On The Road To Freedom“ auf.<\/p>\n

Sein letztes Album tr\u00e4gt den Titel „Still On The Road To Freedom“, es erschien 2012. Wenige Monate sp\u00e4ter starb Alvin Lee \u00fcberraschend nach einer Routineoperation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
