Der US-amerikanische Regisseur Jem Cohen ist mit seiner punkigen DIY-Attit\u00fcde ein Pionier des unabh\u00e4ngigen Filmemachens. Sein aktuelles Projekt \u201eWe Have An Anchor\u201c ist ein experimenteller Hybrid aus Dokumentarfilm, Livekonzert und gesprochenen Texten. Am 31. M\u00e4rz 2015 findet im Londoner Kulturzentrum Barbican die erste Auff\u00fchrung in Europa statt. <\/p>\n

Die essayistische Ann\u00e4herung an die kanadischen Kap-Breton-Inseln beinhaltet neben Naturaufnahmen und kurzen Gedichten, Zeitungsartikeln und wissenschaftlichen Studien einen elegischen Soundtrack, der bei der Auff\u00fchrung live performt wird. F\u00fcr Cohen, der in den letzten Jahren vor allem das Verschwinden des regionalen Charakters von Orten untersuchte und 2001 mit seiner Dokumentation \u00fcber die Hardcoreband Fugazi einem gr\u00f6\u00dferen Publikum bekannt wurde, war die Entdeckung der Inselk\u00fcste ein epiphanisches Erlebnis. <\/p>\n

In London werden u.a. die Musiker Guy Picciotto (Fugazi), Efrim Menuck (Founder, Godspeed You! Black Emperor), T. Griffin, Jim White (Dirty Three), Jessica Moss (Silver Mt. Zion) und Sophie Trudeau (Godspeed You! Black Emperor, SMZ) auftreten. Mit der ungew\u00f6hnlichen Kreuzung aus visuellem und akustischem Material ist \u201eWe Have An Anchor\u201c vor allem auf eine k\u00f6rperliche Erfahrbarkeit des Ortes ausgelegt. <\/p>\n
