Alabama Shakes \u2013 \u201eSound & Color\u201c (Rough Trade)<\/h6>\n

Nach der Ver\u00f6ffentlichung ihres Deb\u00fcts „Boys & Girls“ dauerte es nicht lang, ehe Alabama Shakes von kleinen Clubs in gro\u00dfe Hallen wechselten. Ihre neue Interpretation traditioneller Kl\u00e4nge wie Roots Rock, Soul und Rhythm and Blues spricht eine breite Masse von Fans an. Das wird auch bei Album Nummer zwei so bleiben. Mit „Sound & Color“ kn\u00fcpft die mittlerweile zum Quartett angewachsene Gruppe aus dem der Band den Namen gebenden US-Staat nahtlos an ihr Deb\u00fct an.<\/p>\n

Was aus den Verst\u00e4rkern kommt, erfindet den Ball nicht neu, aber altbacken klingen die bluesigen Gitarren und das ged\u00e4mpfte und pr\u00e4zise Schlagzeug von Alabama Shakes keinesfalls. Ihre gro\u00dfe Attraktion ist immer noch – wie k\u00f6nnte es anders sein – die Stimme von Frontfrau Brittany Howard. Die hat sich Vergleiche mit allen m\u00f6glichen musikalischen Gr\u00f6\u00dfen der 60er und 70er eingehandelt. Fakt ist: Howard hat viel Soul und viel Kraft und wei\u00df mit ihrem Gesang die ganze Bandbreite der Gef\u00fchle abzudecken.<\/p>\n

Das Titelst\u00fcck „Sound & Color“ stimmt mit sanft angeschlagenem Glockenspiel und coolem Beat ein, Howard w\u00e4rmt sich auf. Denn schon das leicht mit Funk angehauchte „Don\u2019t Want To Fight“ geht voll nach vorn. Ihre Stimme schraubt sich fordernd und klagend immer weiter nach oben. Die Gitarre- und Schlagzeug-Fraktion gibt dem Ganzen eine energische Untermalung. So zum Beispiel auch beim Lo-Fi-Ausbruch „The Greatest“ und dem pr\u00e4gnant arrangierten „Give Me All Your Love“, das eine mitrei\u00dfende Dynamik zwischen souligen Gesangsparts und Bluesrock-Gitarrensoli hat. Dem Indierock huldigt „Shoegaze“, der Song k\u00f6nnte auch Kuckuckskind auf einem Kings-Of-Leon-Album sein.
\nAn Balladen haben Alabama Shakes auch nicht gespart. Songs wie „Miss You“ und „Over My Head“ gehen unter die Haut.<\/p>\n

„Sound & Color“ ist eine tolle Platte f\u00fcr Traditionsverliebte und hat dabei einen modernen, polierten, aber nicht zu glatten Sound. Die vierk\u00f6pfige Band harmoniert auf ihrer neuen Platte ganz wunderbar miteinander.
