Konzeptalben gibt es im Reggae nicht besonders viele. Das aktuellste, das mir spontan einf\u00e4llt, ist die Kooperation von Brain Damage und Vibronics bei \u201eEmpire Soldiers\u201c (Jarring Effects) aus dem vergangenen Jahr. Eigentlich schade.<\/p>\n

Aldubb<\/a> aus Berlin, wohl einer der wichtigsten Dub-Masterminds des Landes, hat sich jetzt daran gemacht, eine ganze Symphonie zu schreiben und Experimente zu wagen. 42 Minuten Musik am St\u00fcck, die mal ganz nebenbei den Zeitraum von knapp 15 Milliarden Jahren thematisieren. Ein Angang in Episoden, versteht sich, die Namen wie „Powers Emerge“ oder „The Origin Of Matter“ tragen. Beim ersten H\u00f6ren schie\u00dfen mir sofort Assoziationen mit bekannten Prog-Rock-Konzeptalben in den Kopf \u2013 „The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway“ von Genesis etwa, oder „Thick As A Brick“ (Jethro Tull) und „Animals“ (Pink Floyd). Hier mischt sich (Reggae-)Dub mit vielen anderen Genres und wagt Experimente. Dabei kann man als H\u00f6rer\/-in ganz wunderbar ab- bzw. eintauchen, diverse Bilder auf den Schirm des eigenen Kopfkinos projizieren und viele unerwartete Momente und Sounds erleben. Toll! Aber auf jeden Fall nicht zum Nebenbeih\u00f6ren geeignet. F\u00fcr das neue Album braucht man Zeit, die zu nehmen es sich lohnt.<\/p>\n

Besonders interessant ist die Tatsache, dass hier analoge und digitale Sounds gleichwertig nebeneinander stehen und sich prima erg\u00e4nzen. Was analog besser klingt, wurde analog eingespielt, wo es elektronisch sein musste, ist es das jetzt auch.<\/p>\n

Zu dem \u00fcblichen Dub-Verd\u00e4chtigen tauchen Klarinette, Xylofon und Cello nebst anderen auf. Nicht gerade Instrumente, die man im Dub oft zu h\u00f6ren bekommt. Und da Aldubb selbst zwar viele, aber eben nicht alle Instrumente selbst spielen kann bzw. perfekt beherrscht, wurden Mathieu P\u00e9 (Trompete), Max Wehner (Posaune), Charles Sammons (u.\u00a0a. Cello) und Paul Paul (Saxofon und Klarinette) zu den Aufnahmen eingeladen. Allesamt tragen sie zu einer abwechslungsreichen, musikalisch anspruchsvollen und \u00fcberraschenden Reise ein, die es so meines Wissens noch nie gegeben hat: Prog-Dub!<\/p>\n
