Was passiert, wenn sich zwei multibegabte Musiker und Produzenten zu einer Band zusammentun – der eine verantwortlich f\u00fcr englische Dance-Hits in den 90ern, der andere Wegbereiter von der Indierock-Electro-Synthese auf den Tanzfl\u00e4chen der Nullerjahre? Ein Psychedelic-Pop-Album, was? Ja, so geschehen bei Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, dem gemeinsamen Projekt von Richard Norris, bekannt von The Grid, und Erol Alkan, der hierzulande vor allem mit Boys Noize in Erscheinung getreten ist.<\/p>\n

Beyond The Wizards Sleeve gibt es schon l\u00e4nger, jedoch haben die beiden bisher „nur“ Remixe f\u00fcr Acts wie Goldfrapp, Chemical Brothers und Franz Ferdinand gemacht. Mit „The Soft Bounce“, auf dem Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), Holy Miranda, Euros Childs (Gorky\u2019s Zygotic Mynci), Jane Weaver und Hannah Peel als G\u00e4ste zu h\u00f6ren sind, f\u00fchren Alkan und Norris uns ein in eine Welt, basierend auf „Vergn\u00fcgen und Schmerz, Zweifel und \u00dcberlegenheit“, wie sie selbst sagen. Trippy ist das auf jeden Fall. Was als Huldigung an ihre liebsten Psychedelia-Platten begann, ist ein sattes Pop-Werk geworden, das sich an Krautrock, Dreampop, Dance und Shoegaze bedient.<\/p>\n

Spacig-breite Instrumentals, gespickt mit verzaubernden „Uhs“ und „Ahs“ und elektronischen Frickeleien aus dem Off, leiten „The Soft Bounce“ ein und f\u00fchren wieder heraus. Dazwischen melden sich die Einfl\u00fcsse gro\u00dfer britischer Indiebands zu Wort. „Iron Age“ fuzzt so sehr wie The Jesus And Mary Chain, Songs wie „Finally First“ und „Creation“ erinnern an die psychedelischen Klang-Panoptiken von Stereolab, und leicht shoegazig kommt der Titeltrack „The Soft Bounce“ daher.<\/p>\n

Beeindruckend, was f\u00fcr eine Opulenz Beyond The Wizards Sleeve auf die L\u00e4nge von 44 Minuten packen. Mit „The Soft Bounce“ ist Erol Alkan und Richard Norris ein in bunten Farben schillerndes, einnehmendes und originelles Deb\u00fctalbum gelungen.<\/p>\n
