Die Performance der amerikanischen Band ist aber auch au\u00dferordentlich: S\u00e4nger Sam Herring hat zu allen Songs martialische Choreografien auf Lager, die die Musik von Future Islands noch fesselnder machen, als sie es eh schon ist. Die St\u00e4rke der Songs liegt in ihrer direkten Emotionalit\u00e4t. In einer Mischung aus Berserker und West-Side-Story-Bandentyp bringt Herring genau die eindr\u00fccklich her\u00fcber. Man kann gespannt sein, wie die Performance zu \u201eThe Far Field\u201c aussehen wird.<\/p>\n<p>Das neue Album von Future Islands klingt aufreibend, ber\u00fchrend, aufw\u00fchlend und befl\u00fcgelnd. Alles Emotionen, die man als Band auch auf Tour durchmacht. Und dieses Auf und Ab der Gef\u00fchle hat \u201eThe Far Field\u201c inspiriert. \u201eThe wind will know your name \/ And you don\u2019t have to run \/ You don\u2019t have to change\u201c, singt Sam Herring im ersten St\u00fcck \u201eAladdin\u201c, das Takt f\u00fcr Takt an Dynamik gewinnt, angef\u00fchrt von einer supereing\u00e4ngigen Bassline. Die Basslines sind \u00fcberhaupt der heimliche Star auf \u201eThe Far Field\u201c. William Cashion gibt damit oft die Richtung vor und weckt Erinnerungen an jene Melodien, mit denen Peter Hook einst New-Order-Songs veredelt hat. Ein zweiter Star versteckt sich in \u201eShadows\u201c: Debbie Harry von Blondie singt in diesem zartbitteren Synthpop-Hit im Duett mit Sam Herring.<\/p>\n<p>Den Albumtitel \u201eThe Far Field\u201c haben sich Future Islands \u00fcbrigens vom Lyriker Theodore Roethke geborgt. Dessen gleichnamiges Gedicht beginnt mit der Zeile \u201eIch tr\u00e4ume immer wieder vom Reisen\u201c \u2013 \u201eI dream of journeys repeatedly\u201c. Es handelt vom ewigen Lauf der Zeit, vom Verweilen, Erinnern und Entdecken.
