Juni 2017<br \/>\nLabel: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.4ad.com\/\" target=\"blank\">4AD<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.8em; color: #ff0000;\"><strong>8,0<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eine auditive Entdeckungsreise durch Raum und Zeit: Das Konzeptalbum \u201ePlanetarium\u201c ist eine klangvolle Expedition in unser Sonnensystem in zeitgem\u00e4\u00dfer Kompositionsvielfalt, die Neoklassik, Progressive Rock, Elektronica und Indie-Folk zusammenf\u00fchrt.<\/p>\n<p>Die Geschichte des Albums \u201ePlanetarium\u201c beginnt mit dem gleichnamigen Song &#8211; einem Kompositionsauftrag an Nico Muhly, einem US-amerikanischen Komponisten zeitgen\u00f6ssischer Klassik, der schon mit Bj\u00f6rk, Grizzly Bear oder Antony &#038; The Johnsons kooperiert hat. Dabei dachte er an eine Kollaboration mit seinen Freunden: Sufjan Stevens und James McAlister, der in Stevens&#8216; Band Schlagzeug spielt, sowie Bryce Dessner von The National. Nachdem man das St\u00fcck 2013 zusammen fertiggestellt und aufgef\u00fchrt hatte, legte man das Projekt erst einmal auf Eis. Dessner ver\u00f6ffentlichte mit seiner Band The National zuletzt das zur\u00fcckhaltend-melancholische \u201eTrouble Will Find Me&#8220; und hat f\u00fcr September <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/the-national-kuendigen-neues-album-an-70214\/\" target=\"_blank\">ein neues Band-Album angek\u00fcndigt<\/a>. Stevens brachte mit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/blog\/news\/album-der-woche-sufjan-stevens-carrie-lowell-58311\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201eCarrie &#038; Lowell\u201c<\/a> ein seinen Eltern gewidmetes Singer\/Songwriter-Album hervor und nahm McAlister anschlie\u00dfend mit auf Tour. Muhly komponierte ein Violinen-Konzert f\u00fcr die Metropolitan Oper in New York. <\/p>\n<p>2016 kehrten Stevens und McAlister schlie\u00dflich mit neuen Songskizzen zur\u00fcck ins Studio. \u201eWe had recorded all the arrangements and the live parts in a studio after our last performance,\u201c konstatiert Stevens, \u201eso years later when we all kind of settled down, we said, &#8218;let&#8217;s open Pandora&#8217;s box.\u201c Im Studio wurden aus den Versatzst\u00fccken schlie\u00dflich 17 Songs, die zwischen Prog-Rock, Elektronica und Indie durch das Universum schweben. Zentrales Merkmal der Platte ist Sufjan Stevens unverwechselbare Stimme, die mal mit Autotune ver\u00e4ndert, mal ohne Effekte daherkommt \u2013 sie ist Dekonstruktion und Ruhepol zugleich. Man h\u00f6rt anschwellende Synthiedrones, die im n\u00e4chsten Moment in sequencegesteuerte Indietronica mit mechanisch-gebrochenen Breakbeats wechseln. Die d\u00fcsteren, sich langsam steigernden Streicherarrangementsruft rufen Assoziationen an Gy\u00f6rgy Ligetis Orchesterwerk \u201eAtmosph\u00e8res\u201c hervor, das in Stanley Kubricks Film \u201e2001: Odyssee im Weltraum\u201c zu h\u00f6ren ist. <\/p>\n<p>\u201ePlanetarium\u201c von Stevens, Dessner, Muhly und McAlister verweist mit seinem Titel ebenfalls auf das Sonnensystem. Vor allem handelt es sich bei \u201ePlanetarium\u201c aber um eine experimentelle Gro\u00dftat zwischen den Stilen: akustische Instrumentierung wird zu \u00fcberraschender Elektronica. Fl\u00fcstern zu sich steigernden Ch\u00f6ren. Klavierpop zu Artfolk. Das Herzst\u00fcck \u201eEarth\u201c in seinen fast 15 Minuten, beinhaltet all diese Stile und endet mit einer ausklingenden Note.
