\u201eTongue Slap Your Brains Out\u201c, oder auf Deutsch \u201eKlatsch dir mit der Zunge das Hirn raus\u201c \u2013 Torres beginnt ihr neues Album mit einer erotischen Drohung. Die Wahl-New-Yorkerin, die mit b\u00fcrgerlichem Namen Mackenzie Scott hei\u00dft, wollte auf ihrem dritten Langspieler Musik f\u00fcr alle f\u00fcnf Sinne erschaffen. Mit Erfolg: \u201eThree Futures\u201c ist ein vielschichtiges, sinnliches Album geworden. <\/p>\n

Der bereits erw\u00e4hnte, scharfz\u00fcngige Opener kontrastiert den aggressiven Titel mit sph\u00e4rischem Art-Pop: Ihr sehns\u00fcchtiger Gesang harmoniert wunderbar mit der sanft-synkopischen Bass-Drum und den breiten Synthesizer-Fl\u00e4chen. Erst der zweite Song, die Vorabsingle \u201eSkim\u201c, zeigt Scott von ihrer bissigen Seite: \u201eConsider the source of your energy \/ Do you just hate him more than you love me?\u201c Eine peitschende Snare und ihre zwar melodische, aber stark verzerrte E-Gitarre unterst\u00fctzen das bittere Sentiment ihres Textes. Doch innerhalb des f\u00fcnf Minuten langen St\u00fcckes ruht sich Scott nicht auf dieser Bitterkeit aus, sondern verwandelt sie im Refrain in tr\u00e4umerische Melancholie. <\/p>\n

Scott versteht es, auf diesem Album elektronische Elemente mit menschlichen Emotionen zu versehen. Ein gutes Beispiel: Die albtraumhafte Single \u201eHelen’s In The Woods“: Aus repetitiven Beats und einem m\u00e4chtigen Riff erschafft sie hier ein gro\u00dfes St\u00fcck Paranoia. Dazu singt sie immer und immer wieder „Warn the neighbors if you could \/ Tell \u2018em Helen\u2019s in the woods“ \u2013 Der Song wirkt wie eine dringliche Warnung. Und im \u00e4therischen \u201eMarble Focus\u201c harmoniert ihre E-Gitarre mit pulsierenden Synthesizer-Sph\u00e4ren, als w\u00e4ren sie aus einem Guss. <\/p>\n

Mit ihrer Mischung aus Z\u00e4rtlichkeit und Aggressivit\u00e4t, aus Bitterkeit und S\u00fc\u00dflichkeit l\u00e4dt Scott auf \u201eThree Futures\u201c zu einer Reise durch die Vielf\u00e4ltigkeit menschlicher Emotionen ein. Die deckt zwar nicht unbedingt alle f\u00fcnf Sinne ab, klingt dabei aber stets vorz\u00fcglich.<\/p>\n
