Ihre gro\u00dfe Beliebtheit hielt sie jedoch nie davon ab, bei der politischen Elite des Landes anzuecken. Unvergessen der Eklat, als sie 1968 als geladener Gast bei einem Dinner mit dem US-Pr\u00e4sidenten Lyndon B. Johnson folgendes \u00fcber den Vietnam-Krieg sagte: \u201eIhr sendet die Besten dieses Landes fort, um erschossen oder zum Kr\u00fcppel gemacht zu werden.
