Die Musikerin, die mit b\u00fcrgerlichem Namen Brittney Parks hei\u00dft, hat sich fr\u00fch zu dem Instrument hingezogen gef\u00fchlt. Aber weil das Geld fehlte, hat sie sich das Spielen einfach selbst beigebracht. Inspiriert von sudanesischer und westafrikanischer Folkmusik.<\/p>\n<p>Ihre eigenwillige Spielweise, die sie sich als Autodidaktin angeeignet hatte, machte das Zusammenspiel mit anderen schwer: \u201eDie Leute in dem Orchester, dem ich angeh\u00f6rte, hielten mich f\u00fcr bescheuert, nannten mich \u201aunz\u00e4hmbar\u2018\u201c. Als Solok\u00fcnstlerin verzauberte sie jedoch mit ihrem besonderen Stil schnell ihre Zuh\u00f6rerInnen. Und hat es mit diesem auf das US-amerikanische Label Stones Throw geschafft, das 2017 ihre selbstbetitelte Deb\u00fct-EP und ein Jahr sp\u00e4ter den Nachfolger \u201eSink\u201c ver\u00f6ffentlichte.<\/p>\n<p>Nun hat die Musikerin ihr Deb\u00fctalbum angek\u00fcndigt. Und als erster Vorbote ist seit heute der Song \u201eConfessions\u201c zu h\u00f6ren. Sph\u00e4risch-cineastische Geigenfl\u00e4chen treffen hier auf treibende R&#8217;n&#8217;B-Beats und Percussions, eng umschlungen von einer samtweichen Stimme, die von einer Suche nach Heimat singt: \u201eThere is a place that I call home, but it\u2018s not where I am welcome.\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Anl\u00e4sslich des neuen Albums wird Sudan Archives auf Tour gehen. F\u00fcr drei Shows kommt sie auch nach Deutschland.
