Mit diesen Worten beginnt das neue Album von Adam Bainbridge alias Kindness. Wenige Sekunden sp\u00e4ter ballert eine \u00fcberlebensgro\u00dfe House-Bassdrum aus den Boxen, w\u00e4hrend ein Gospelchor himmlische Harmonien ausbreitet und ein Jazz-Piano und Bl\u00e4ser durch die Zwischenr\u00e4ume h\u00fcpfen. Zu all dem erklingt die groovigste Triangel der Welt. Wenn jemand behaupten sollte, dass all das nicht zusammenpasst, dann ist die Antwort von Kindness ein klares: \u201ePass mal auf!\u201c <\/p>\n

Adam Bainbridge, Kopf des britischen Projekts, vermischt seit 2012 Sachen, die auf dem Papier eigentlich nicht zusammenpassen. R&B, House, Electronica, Barock-Pop, Minimal, Disco, Funk und Big-Beat gingen auf dem Deb\u00fct \u201eWorld, You Need A Change Of Mind\u201c und dem Nachfolger \u201eOtherness\u201c<\/a> Hand in Hand. Musik, die Kopf, Beine und Herz gleichzeitig in Bewegung versetzen kann. Ohne Verknotungsgefahr. <\/p>\n

\u201eDon\u2018t be afraid to go too far\u201c<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Auf \u201eSomething Like A War\u201c, der nun erscheinenden dritten LP von Kindness, treibt Bainbridge diese Euphorie-Musik auf die Spitze. Die Beats sind lauter. Die B\u00e4sse knackiger. Die Bl\u00e4ser funky. Und die Refrains so gro\u00df, dass sie die ganze Welt umarmen k\u00f6nnten. Das Album wirkt lose in zwei Akte aufgeteilt, erst eine von R&B und Soul gepr\u00e4gte erste H\u00e4lfte, die zweite ist in Electronica und House verwurzelt. \u201eDon\u2018t be afraid to go too far\u201c, singt die schwedische Gasts\u00e4ngerin Seinabo Sey in \u201eLost Without\u201c<\/a>, ein weiteres im Text verstecktes Credo dieses Albums. <\/p>\n

Und selbst wenn Kindness etwas zu weit geht, geschieht dies mit beeindruckender Eleganz. Die 13 Songs von \u201eSomething Like A War\u201c sind schillernde, mit Liebe zum Detail konstruierte Pop-Kathedralen, in denen man sich verlieren kann. Das vom US-amerikanischen R&B-Star Jazmine Sullivan gesungene \u201eHard To Believe\u201c ist virtuoser Engtanz-R&B, der immer und wieder neue Klangelemente aufeinanderschichtet, bis einem fast schwindelig wird. Auch \u201eSoftness As A Weapon\u201c mutiert stetig, verliert aber nie seinen m\u00fchelosen Groove. <\/p>\n

Wie bei vielen Kindness-Alben sind es auch auf \u201eSomething Like A War\u201c die Gasts\u00e4ngerInnen, die hervorstechen. Der Titeltrack ist blubbernder HipHop, in dem 90er-HipHop-Urgestein Bahamadia ihren oft untersch\u00e4tzten Flow ausbreiten kann. Das emotionale Highlight lauert in der Mitte des Albums, wenn Bainbridges alte Weggef\u00e4hrtin Robyn f\u00fcr zwei Songs die F\u00fchrung \u00fcbernimmt. Ihr Duett \u201eCry Everything\u201c<\/a> beginnt als euphorischer House-Track und endet in einem Meer aus Harmonien. \u201eThis time these tears feel like progress\u201c, singen die eng umschlungenen Stimmen, w\u00e4hrend im Hintergrund ein A-capella-Sample von Todd Rundgren ert\u00f6nt. Das passt nicht zusammen? Pass mal auf! <\/p>\n
