Bereits mit zehn Jahren wusste Marlena Shaw, dass sie S\u00e4ngerin werden wollte. Ihr Onkel, ein Trompeter, hatte sie mit Jazz-Platten angefixt. Sie h\u00e4tte ihn auf Tour begleiten k\u00f6nnen, doch ihre Mutter war dagegen. Nach einem abgebrochenen Lehramtsstudium ging es wieder auf die B\u00fchne. Und ins Studio, beim Blues- und Jazz-Traditionslabel Chess Records, bei dem sich Shaw dann aber auch nicht so recht zu Hause f\u00fchlte. Und in der Tat waren es eher Groove-Tunes wie \u201eCalifornia Soul\u201c oder der Disco-Hit \u201eTouch Me In The Morning\u201c, die ihr gr\u00f6\u00dfere Aufmerksamkeit verschafften. Oder der politische feministische <a href=\"https:\/\/www.byte.fm\/sendungen\/sounds-outta-range\/2016-02-10\/21\/deep-heavy-70s-funk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Funk<\/a>-Song, der heute unser Track des Tages ist.
