Schon auf dem Deb\u00fct \u201eWisdom Of The Elders&#8220; (2016) ging es \u2013 wie der Projektname schon nahelegt \u2013 um eine Auseinandersetzung mit Schwarzer Geschichte und Kultur, um Versklavung (und dem ihr zugrunde liegenden Kapitalismus), Rassismus und M\u00e4nnlichkeitsideale. Die Texte tr\u00e4gt der s\u00fcdafrikanischen Dichter und Musiker Siyabonga Mthembu vor, der sie auch geschrieben hat.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Verbrennt die Vergangenheit<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Shabaka &amp; The Ancestors verbinden Jazz mit der spirituellen Musik der s\u00fcdafrikanischen Nguni (verschiedene Bantu-Ethnien des s\u00fcdlichen Afrikas), zentralafrikanischen Einfl\u00fcssen und Calypso. Der erste Track \u201eThey Who Must Die&#8220; dient hier als Br\u00fccke zwischen \u201eWisdom Of The Elders&#8220;, das noch vor dem drohenden gesellschaftlichen Zusammenbruch warnte, und \u201eWe Are Sent Here By History&#8220;, das aus der Zeit des Zusammenbruchs heraus spricht.<\/p>\n<p>Eine Meditation aus der Kampfzone. Der sozialen Kampfzone von Krieg und Ausbeutung sowie die der drohenden \u00f6kologischen Katastrophe, bei der, so scheint es, nur noch dar\u00fcber gestritten wird, mit welchen Geschwindigkeit man gegen die Wand fahren m\u00f6chte. Auf \u201eWe Are Sent Here By History\u201c geht es um Revolution. Nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Um den Neustart, das Verbrennen der B\u00fccher, der Platten, der Namen. Das Verbrennen der Zeugnisse der Gesellschaft, die uns \u00fcber Jahrhunderte in die aktuelle Situation gef\u00fchrt hat, deren Kommen absehbar war, aber ignoriert wurde. Der einzige Ausweg ist der radikale Neubeginn.<\/p>\n<p>Musikalisch erinnert \u201eWe Are Sent Here By History\u201c bisweilen an radikale Jazzmusiker einer radikaleren Vergangenheit \u2013 John Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders. Dann aber auch an skelettierten politischen HipHop der fr\u00fchen 1990er-Jahre, der selbst wiederum von den alten Jazzern inspiriert war. Auch der Sound gemahnt eher an die 1960er, also kein elektrisierter Future-Jazz wie bei The Comet Is Coming. Die Radikalit\u00e4t des Albums ist durchaus geschichtsbewusst. Es wurden also keinesfalls alle B\u00fccher und Platten verbrannt. Ihre Mittel sind alt, das was mit diesen Mitteln gemacht wird ist neu und dringlich.<\/p>\n<p>Ver\u00f6ffentlichung: 13.
