F\u00fcr Martin Kohlstedt ist ein Song mehr als nur ein Song. Die St\u00fccke des im th\u00fcringischen Breitenworbis geborenen Komponisten und Produzenten f\u00fchrten schon immer ein Eigenleben, das \u00fcber die auf LP festgehaltene Form hinausgeht. Live dekonstruiert Kohlstedt seine instrumentalen Tastenexkursionen in ihre Einzelteile, f\u00fcgt Elemente aus verschiedenen Songs zu neuen Werken zusammen. Auch seine Tontr\u00e4ger sind von diesem Ansatz gepr\u00e4gt: Sein aktuelles Album \u201eStr\u00f6me\u201c (2019) ist eine Variation auf seinen Vorg\u00e4nger \u201eStrom\u201c (2017), veredelt mit Beitr\u00e4gen des Gewandhauschors Leipzig. <\/p>\n

Wie auch bei seinen ersten LPs \u201eTag\u201c und \u201eNacht\u201c hat Kohlstedt die Tracks von \u201eStrom\u201c und \u201eStr\u00f6me\u201c nun auch anderen K\u00fcnstler*innen in die Hand gegeben, um diese Transformation noch weiter fortzuspinnen. Die Ergebnisse werden unter dem Titel \u201eRecurrents\u201c erscheinen. Bisher ver\u00f6ffentlichte er Henrik Schwarzs Electronica-Remix des St\u00fccks \u201eJingol\u201c<\/a>, nun folgt eine Neuinterpretation von \u201eThiphy\u201c \u2013 interpretiert vom US-amerikanischen Studiozauberer Peter Broderick. <\/p>\n

Brodericks musikalischer Output ist reich an illustren Zusammenarbeiten: Der vielseitig talentierte Musiker<\/a> war bereits Mitglied der d\u00e4nischen Experimental-Pop-Band Efterklang, spielte mit und f\u00fcr Indie-Folk-Acts wie M. Ward und Laura Gibson, ver\u00f6ffentlichte Zusammenarbeiten mit Nils Frahm und fand nebenbei auch Zeit f\u00fcr eine zweistellige Anzahl an Soloalben. Sein \u201eReimagining\u201c von \u201eThiphy\u201c sprengt jedoch s\u00e4mtliche Erwartungen: Broderick verwandelt Kohlstedts Ambient-Meditation in einen sph\u00e4rischen HipHop-Track. \u201eForget distraction, forget abstraction, this is real\u201c, rappt er \u00fcber Kohlstedts Chor-Arrangements und Synthesizer-W\u00e4nde. Der Bass knarzt, die Stimmen schweben. Eine weitere Transformation ist komplett. <\/p>\n
