Olson ist New Yorker durch und durch. Auch wenn seine Band The Ladybug Transistor gern mit dem Elephant-6-Kollektiv in Athens, Georgia in Verbindung gebracht wird. Aufgrund pers\u00f6nlicher Verbindungen, aber auch durch eine geteilte Liebe zur abseitigen Sch\u00f6nheit. Einem gemeinsam abgesteckten Bereich zwischen Psych-Pop, dem Sunshine-Pop von 60s-Acts wie The Free Design und orchestralen Burt-Bacharach-Arrangements. Als Arrangeur und Produzent hat Gary Olson bei Bands wie The Essex Green und Crystal Stilts das musikalische Feingef\u00fchl f\u00fcr ziemlich unterschiedliche Atmosph\u00e4ren bewiesen. Jetzt arrangiert er erstmals auf Albuml\u00e4nge sich selbst, und das wurde auch Zeit.<\/p>\n<p>Das St\u00fcck \u201eGiovanna Please\u201c k\u00fcndigt ein Album an, das hei\u00dft wie der K\u00fcnstler selbst. Wer auf Biegen und Brechen ein Genre braucht, mag es unter \u201eKammerpop\u201c einordnen. Weil es Pop ist und weil es Streicherarrangements in ihm gibt. Doch die Musik kommt weder artsy daher, noch sollte man sie mit einer muffigen Kammer assoziieren. \u201eGiovanna Please\u201c vermittelt die Ahnung von einer besseren Jahreszeit. Und auch ein biografischer Fr\u00fchlingshauch weht durch die Ode an das Greenwich Village, in dem Olson seine Jugend verbrachte. Ein hoffnungsfroher Vorbote eines Albums, das zwischen Norwegen und New York entstanden ist. Uns erwarten mehr Streicher und der Maestro selber an Mikrofon und Trompete.
