Zur Begrüßung gab es einen Apfel und, wenn man Glück hatte, einen Händedruck von John Lennon und George Harrison: Vor 50 Jahren eröffnete in der Baker Street in London die Apple Boutique der Beatles. Laut Paul McCartney "A beautiful place where beautiful people buy beautiful things" - tatsächlich aber wurde sie zum finanziellen Desaster für die Fab Four.
Und: Am Sonntag jährt sich der Todestag von Otis Redding zum 50. Mal. Am 10. Dezember 1967 starb er bei einem Flugzeugabsturz. Nur drei Tage vor seinem Tod nahm der begnadete Soulsänger seinen größten Hit auf, dessen Erfolg er leider nicht mehr erleben konnte: "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay".
