Was ist Musik Soul mit Eigenschaften: Heavy, Abstract, Sci-Fi
Von Soul ist oft die Rede, wenn afroamerikanische Stimmen singen (und nicht rappen). Und vor allem, wenn sie von den ernsten Dingen des Lebens singen (also nicht von Konsum und von Sex, dann ist es R&B). Problematische Unterscheidung. Also bleiben wir in Ermangelung eines besseren Begriffs provisorisch beim Begriff Soul. Und versehen mit zufällig gefundenen Eigenschaften: Heavy, Abstract, Sci-Fi.
Die unterschiedlichen Attribute werden so unterschiedlichen Leuten wie Erykah Badu, Paul Weller und Flying Lotus zugeschrieben. Bei allen Unterschieden wird allen gerne eine nebulöse bescheinigt. Davon soll heute keine Rede sein. Stattdessen der Versuch, die losen Enden des Soul zu verbinden.
