Er gründete das erste ernstzunehmende Rock-Fanzine ('Mojo Navigator', 1966), führte Genre-Namen wie Power-Pop und Garage-Punk ein, startete eigenhändig das 80s-Neo-Garage-Revival und leitete mit Bomp Records ab 1974 das vielleicht langlebigste Indie-Label überhaupt: Greg Shaw war Hans Dampf in allen Gassen und starb mit 55 Jahren schockierend früh. 18 Jahre ist die traurige Nachricht von Shaws frühem Tod nun alt, aber wer braucht schon runde Jahreszahlen, um wichtiger Menschen zu gedenken.
